Is there any way to access the sample-only portion of the Internet Archive?

47 years until I hear some Edison cylinder music...

    What would drive TH900 well?

That I agree with, but I’ve been following a lot of Chinese forum stuff, and Chinese Hi-Fi people are crazy about the "synergy": it's not just about whether the headphones are loud enough! You outta try all the combinations of DACs and amps, amps and headphones, cables and amps, cables and...

    What would drive TH900 well?

So I recently bought a pair of mint TH900 for under 600 dollars (got real lucky there). I realize that my current combo is probably not going to drive them well (Schiit Modi Uber 2 + Monolith Liquid Spark). Here are some options that I'm interested in; please give me some advice as to which one...

    SRM-300 vs. SRM-313

Hey there! I need to purchase a driver for a pair of DIY electrostatic headphones and I'd like to know which one is better-- SRM -300 for 170 dollars or SRM-313 for 238 dollars? There is an incredibly talented electrostatic headphone maker in China that I discovered. Many very respectable...

    Modern Funk (not old stuff)

Scary Pockets is an amazing group that does mostly covers of pop hits, but their composition is so good, their execution so clean, that they've quite literally made songs their own. Every Breath You Take, We are the Champions, Sweet Child o' Mine, etc. They also rotate among some amazing vocalists.

The hussle of (legally) downloading japanese music

Try archive.org. That's where I found Maria Takeuchi's Variety in FLAC, legally. I also found some NGE OST in FLAC. Obviously, there's no guarantee, but it's a good resource.

What Are You Listening To Right Now?

The Dance of Maya, Mahavishnu Orchestra The 11/4 format is making my head hurt, but in a good way

Is there any way to access the sample-only portion of the Internet Archive?

The Internet Archive seems to be the perfect place for finding digital versions of older, more obscure music. However, a lot of it is only offered sample-only. Is there any way for to access these files? To me, it seems useless to have hundreds of thousands of songs when nobody can access them.

Will there be a revised version of M1570?

I think there will be. They are, as far as I heard, exceptionally-sounding headphones with some no-brainer problems. The problems, however, can be very easily fixed--just switch the wiring or use different connectors to change the proprietary mini-xlr connectors. In fact, they have done...

STAX 2170: Love in the Time of Corona

BTW, my review was very long. If people are interested, let me know and I'll translate it for you.

STAX 2170: Love in the Time of Corona

Under quarantine, I wrote this review in Chinese on a Chinese forum (since I had nothing better to do). You can see the power converter because the energizer is made for 120V, and China uses 220V. I saw these for 450 bucks and pulled the trigger immediately. People always talk crap about...

    Chi-Fi Tube Amp: RFTLYS EA1A

As you can probably tell, it has two line-level inputs and a bluetooth input. They came with some Chinese 6N1P and EL34 tubes which were actually really nice so I didn't replace them. Now the sound -- absolutely gorgeous. Barely tube-y, but just a little bit when you listen closely to a lead...

    Chi-Fi Tube Amp: RFTLYS EA1A

Reeeal sexy, ain't it? I don't have access to it right now since it's in my host family's garage (social distancing!), so I'm going to post some stock pictures. Edit: the first picture was taken with my camera so the file was too big and wasn't showing. Changed it to a slightly compressed version.

Listening with speakers and open-back headphones simultaneously dramatically improved the soundstage!

TL;DR: Played music through speakers and headphones at the same time; discovered that doing this yields soundstage and details that neither the speakers nor the headphones can produce alone. Context: Recently, I purchased a pair of ESP/95x's. They sound absolutely amazing on their own--I love...

    New Member Introductions thread

Hello, everybody! I'm a long-time audiophile by now. I started out years ago, driving my MDR-1A's with my phone. Then I got a pair of RHA MA750's, and then I got my major upgrade into a schiit magni+modi stack and a pair of K701's. I thought I had reached my end game, until I heard a pair of...
