    MEE M6

Picked these up direct from mee during their facebook event.  The sound is great so far with the exception of the highs going in and out as I move my head.  Tomorrow I'll be playing with the tips to see if I can clear this up.  I work in a computer lab and they do a good job blocking out the fan...

Does anyone use a AV receiver for amplification

Currently using a technics sa-ex310 surround receiver to power my k240s.  Definitely works and allows me to power my headphones and speakers from one device.  Eventually I'll go with an amp just out of curiosity.

    Desktop speakers?

Sdarr found some good stuff and craigslist is going to be your friend on this.     Quote: A set of floor/tower speakers should be all you need for this.  Small spaces tend to amplify bass a bit but you can always add a powered sub later.   As for what brand or specific model, just...

    Desktop speakers?

I use an old Technics 5.1 receiver I pulled out of a friends garage and Sony 2-way bookshelf speakers.  Total cost, $50.   You can really use any receiver as you're only doing music.  As long as it has the connections you want (rca's on older ones, spdif or usb on newer) and enough power to...

The video card is waiting to be water cooled too, or replaced.

    Desktop speakers?

Quote: If space permits, I think a receiver and a set of bookshelf speakers would work well for you.  Hit up ebay or garage sales for both.  It'll allow more options than just hooking it to your computer too.

Xonar DG vs DS vs DX

Quote: Well look at it this way.  You'll save money in the end by going with the good stuff first instead of working your way up.   One thing I forgot to mention, even with the separate power connection I still get a bit of humming and buzzing from the DX.  Some of this might be...

Xonar DG vs DS vs DX

I picked up the DX at the end of November while it was on sale for $58, and so far I'm happy with my purchase.  Keep in mind the DX is pcie 1x and not pci like the others and also needs a floppy connector for power.   The Dolby headphone setting is what I use mostly.  It does a good job of...
