Any info on vintage Beyerdynamic DT770's?

Thank you for the heads up. The video mostly covered the earlier days of Beyerdynamic, but it was still interesting. I ended up finding another review which claimed that the older DT770 had more of a closed sound while the newer ones have better soundstage.

No 6th annual San Diego meet?

I wouldn't mind helping as well, although Darin will probably decline due to security issues (there's no camera during that time and considering the amount of expensive equipment, I don't blame him). I forgot that he does software too. I kept thinking he was an audio reseller.

No 6th annual San Diego meet?

Aww that's too bad, but I don't blame him. It takes a lot of work to host these events. Thank you for asking him about it though. I'm not sure if I'll still be in the area in 2018, but I'm down if I'm around. In the meantime, I gotta stay tuned for an OC event.

No 6th annual San Diego meet?

I remember that too, and also the conversations we had (Focal Utopias supposedly being "perfect" but sounding far from it, K1000's, 1st gen Beats headphones being a dog whistle, etc). I could've swore we met around October or November though.

Creative Aurvana Live 2 Plastic Cracking Need Fixing

I see the image now. It looks like the same problem I had with my $20 Sony headphones. Super glue never helped and I ended up throwing the headphones away once I heard the AKG K240. In this case, I think it would be best to give the headband some sort of brace to prevent it from flexing as much...

Any info on vintage Beyerdynamic DT770's?

I've heard that the modern DT770's (2000 and later I think) have a bass emphasis while the older ones were more flat and analytical. This is probably due to the addition of a bass reflex port in the newer models, but I can't really find any information to verify these claims. Can anyone chime in...

No 6th annual San Diego meet?

I haven't been on Head Fi recently, but AFAIK there hasn't been a San Diego meet for this year yet. I'm assuming Darin Fong might be busy or couldn't secure space for this year, but are there any plans for the next event?

Luckily I don't need to get inside the E/90 unless its the only way to remove the knobs. I've lubricated the Objective2 potentiometer before, so I don't see lubrication being an issue. Guess I'll just try unscrewing the knob screws and pulling them out with rubber gloves.

By the way, has anyone removed the volume knobs on their E/90 before? My knobs are sticking so I may have to lubricate the potentiometer.

I've been having issues with quotes as well. I end up doing them manually.   Supposedly it is due to the high voltage capacitors. I'm not sure about electrostatic amps, but this happens with CRT monitors. Under frequent use, they display a picture fairly quickly upon powering them on. But...

Some guy that reviews lots of headphones on Youtube. He does seem to talk out of his butt sometimes ("OHHH THIS HAS THE BEST BASS EVER!"), but its not like he has limited experience either.   Quote: I kinda worried about this too. My volume level may have had an effect on this as well. Oh...

HOLY CRAP! I'll be honest, I was slightly disappointed in the ESP-950's when I first plugged them in. They were definitely better than the K701's, but sounded just as lifeless. But when I came back a few hours later and listened to the same tracks....daaaaaammnn. The K701 could never pull off...

Both of my knobs adjust simultaneously and I noticed some hex screws within the knobs. It may be possible to find the sweet spot and then tighten these so that they always adjust together. Haven't tried it myself though.   Quote: The squealing is common apparently, although I haven't...

Crap, I had actually written about the current but somehow I deleted that sentence. Although I could've swore that 100mA was the lower threshold for death.         That seems to be the case. Other than some popping sound (probably these old earpads), it seems fine so far.      ...
