What would your dream iem from jh audio be, minus Layla, for classic rock (pink floyd, doobie brothers, beatles), 80's pop synth, 90's alternative as well as depeche mode and such? ,

Warm and simple are the two best words I would use. These are not going to be as articulate and detailed as say the 13v2 or 16v2. Not have the power of a Roxanne or Lola, just enjoyable to listen to like a nice record over a digital file.

The Lola does have a "bigger sound" over the Jimi, but can be a little bloated in the mids to mid lows for some. Now those can be turned down of course. The Lola was originally designed for on stage guitar use while the Jimi was designed with a more vinyl-like sound signature. Both are fun for...

    HiFiMAN RE-400 and HM-901 - Head-Fi TV

Quote: Just a lot of functionality in it. I've been using anything from 256k up to FLAC on it (just to test it) and all formats sound pretty good.  The internal amp (even though stated there is something 'better' for multi-BA units on the way) drives my triple, quad and 5 driver customs...

    HiFiMAN RE-400 and HM-901 - Head-Fi TV

The HM901 is pretty sick! Have a pre-prod unit I've been playing with. Tasty with the HE-400's and the RE-400's

OK so with the coloring.... swirling the acrylics does not always come out right. Since these are literally hand-poured into the cast the color starts to blend when we attempt the swirl. There have been a few that look OK, but honestly most do not. The colors get all muddled where they meet and...

Quote: If you like the mid bump on the ES3, I would stick with those. These will be more neutral in the mids and might require you to bump the EQ in your mix to get the same sound.
