Best dynamic driver IEMs?
They're similar enough that it isn't much of a comparison, if I recall the Xelentos are brighter, but they're both essentially the same.- Noobmachine

Best dynamic driver IEMs?
I've only ever heard the Oriolus once before and wasn't quite impressed with the whole package, the bass sure was good, but as a whole package the big chunky shell plus the less than coherent sound, especially when compared to the Xelentos. If you do enjoy the sound of BA mids and highs then I'd...- Noobmachine

Best dynamic driver IEMs?
Basically I've been using nothing but DD iems, I'd have to say the Lyra II, DITA Dream, and what I use personally which would be the Beyerdynamic Xelentos. Quite honestly there isn't much selection when it comes to DD iems, and the DITA is so painfully difficult to drive, and the Lyra and Vega...- Noobmachine

Chord Mojo DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆
I usually use the AK to Mojo, rather than my phone as I have a larger music collection on the AK, and I think that the sound is a bit better, since you get very minor EMI while using the phone and Mojo, but not with the AK.- Noobmachine

Ortofon e-Q8 Impressions Thread (new 2014 successor of the e-Q7 / e-Q5)
Of course it is rather subjective,(this entire hobby is shrouded in subjectivity) and I won't say that it is THE player for the EQ-8, but as someone who happened to pick up the S6, I was pleasantly surprised by the pairing, considering my own experience in driving the EQ-8. (YMMV) Of all the...- Noobmachine

Ortofon e-Q8 Impressions Thread (new 2014 successor of the e-Q7 / e-Q5)
Small note to people who may use the EQ-8 with their smartphones; The EQ-8 pairs very well with the new Samsung Galaxy S6 line of phones. I am currently using them on my S6 edge and they sound even better than when driven out of my AK100ii- Noobmachine

Analog Squared Paper Discussion Thread.
Please do let me know how they sound with the DITAs, I'm personally very anxious to hear how the combo sounds, as I'll be using that primarily.- Noobmachine

Analog Squared Paper Discussion Thread.
Basically the same deal, except I'm running it in low impedance, current mode (which basically kills battery life) and double battery capacity. I'm currently trying to see if I can get a recharging circuit built in as well. I'm still not all that familiar with the SIT stuff, I'd love to...- Noobmachine

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).
Well, they fit so perfectly that I can sleep with them on, and they never hurt my ears, regardless of the tips.- Noobmachine

Pen-Fi (FPs, RBs, BPs, etc...) [56k Warning]
Is it scratchy in any way? I own a Spencerian nib from Mr Mottishaw and without flexing the tip out it tends to be a little grainy/scratchy.- Noobmachine

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).
This is the bottom line right here, if your source isn't up to par, the Truth will sound far flatter and less engaging, with the Answer doing far better, and on superior sources (I'm currently using an AK100II) you can really tell the difference. I have actually tried to do double blind testing...- Noobmachine

DITA - The Answer (Truth Edition).
I use the standard medium bore tips, but I've got Ortofons on the way. Fit and sound are fine, but the comfort after 3> hours is less than perfect.- Noobmachine

Do I need a DAC?
If youre just starting to get into amps and DACs, i recommend looking at the Schiit gear, namely the ever popular Modi and Magni combo. It is just a hair under $200, for a very capable DAC and amp combo, and if you do want to upgrade you can do so incrementally and one component at a time.- Noobmachine
