NEW HiBy R4
Confusing is an understatement! So... The R3 runs HibyOS and so does R4 but R4 is Android and R3 is not? I can't keep up- Nolbert0

Best non-Android Daps
It's quite weighty for what it is but it'll power most full sized headphones. I keep one in my suitcase travel myself. If you're happy with a good dongle, a transport is also an option for travel, too- Nolbert0

Best non-Android Daps
I'm in the same boat as you and personally don't like Android DAPs. I think your choices are reduced to HibyOS (Hiby, Hidizs, Tempotec) and Mtouch (Shanling) I'm currently using Tempotec V3- Nolbert0

Tempotec V3 DAP - small, powerful, functional with Hiby OS
For the life of me, I can't figure out how to connect the V3 to HibyLink via BT to my phone. I somehow managed via WiFi but not BT. Can somebody help this idiot out please? Thanks in advance- Nolbert0

IBasso DX170: convert AKG 701 to balanced?
I believe the k701 has the non detachable cable? If so, it just requires a retermination of the 3.5mm jack to the connector of your choice. Otherwise you'll need to swap out the 3pin mini XLR for a 4pin with a kit like this- Nolbert0

Tempotec V3 DAP - small, powerful, functional with Hiby OS
I just pulled the trigger on the V3 for £146 (on AliExpress) to use with the Hifiman XS. I hope it works well together. Seems to have enough output power, at least. My 2 previous DAPs were also HibyOS (Tempotec V1 and the OG Hiby R3) so I have a good idea on what to expect from it, software wise.- Nolbert0

HiBy RS2: dual card slots, Darwin R2R, FIR, NOS, MQA 8x--news and impressions thread
If this is replacing R3 and/or R2, this wouldn't be android, no. Besides, imagine navigating an Android OS on a screen that small. Nightmare!- Nolbert0

Life-span of Android operating systems?
This has always been my concern so I've stuck with proprietary OSes like Hiby and Shanling. Having said that, my DAPs are usually no more than a glorified transport for my Mojo or dongle.- Nolbert0

HiBy RS2: dual card slots, Darwin R2R, FIR, NOS, MQA 8x--news and impressions thread
I wonder if they'll keep the dimensions of the R3 - best part about the R3, imo. The size was matched exactly to the Chord Mojo. If the RS2 has dual MicroSD slots, I'd buy immediately! With HibyLink, these little HibyOS devices truely are the 'poor man's Poly'- Nolbert0

Chord Mojo 2 finally released
It appears as though the market has moved on without them. Sad- Nolbert0

Using DAP as a source
of course you can bypass your DAC and still use your amp, but you specifically mentioned "DAC/Amp combo". The 2.5mm will only work if your amp is also balanced, and has an analogue input. You'd probably need the 2.5mm TRRS to balanced XLR adapter to plug it in, if your amp supports it. Depends...- Nolbert0

MP3 player with 1TB microSD support with capacity for 140,000 songs and no touchscreen -- is this even in existence?
So long as you use folder list in stead of cached library, there's no song limit or issues with ram. Since you're mentioning iPod, there's always a Fiio x5ii, if you can find one. the only non fruity dual micro SD without a touchscreen I can think of, without modding. Besides, rockbox is really...- Nolbert0

Using DAP as a source
If you use the 3.5mm or 2.5mm line out, you'll completely bypass the DAC (digital to analogue converter) and straight into your amp since you're sending a signal that's already covered to analogue. You'd probably want either coax or USB out (depending on what's available on you DAP) for a...- Nolbert0
