Are all the E# amps USB connected? How easy to use are they? Any one in particular that's easier/harder to install on a laptop? I'm looking for one that's "plug it and forget it" rather than "plug it and adjust the hell out of it".     Again much thanks for the responses.

  Ok, that's good. If you didn't plan on buying an amp, it wouldn't have made sense to get the dt770 considering its only slightly better (<10%) unamped than the M50 unamped.   Quote:

Not a fan of the M50, but this specific model of the DT770 80ohm will be MUCH harder to drive than the M50.  Since you don't want to buy an additional amp, I say this should be a important consideration for you.  M50s are uncomfortable, but at least they'll drive well from devices of all shapes...

Does anyone know how to install the ElectriQ equalizer onto Foobar?  I've heard its possible, but for the life of me can't find instructions anywhere on the net.  Help will be very much appreciated.

Can anyone comment on how well the Senn 598s do unamped straight from a laptop? Can it at least reach ~90% potential from that? Or is it one of the situations where unamped its only at 50% power and amped it turns to 100%?

How well does a Sennheiser 598 do without an amp? As good as M50?   How loud does it emit music? Audible within 1-2 meters?

Portability isn't that big a concern for me. Just needs to be light/small enough to stuff it into a backpack. Won't be bringing these for outside listening, only in my bedroom. I'm not a basshead, so the bass only needs to be capable and potent, not overpowering.  I don't quite understand...
