How to Manually Create Playlists for the X5

You can also do a search/replace on the path string to add "tf1:" (card slot one) or "tf2:" (card slot ) similar to a windows drive letter.  Thus avoiding the whole relative path issue.  I had a lot of problems getting relative pathing to work and ended up doing this.  It has the added benefit...

Just a couple of comments on iTunes and playlists.  In iTunes (Win7)  I open a playlist and click "File-->Library--> Export Playlist and save it (as a text file).  This is a tab delimited format that can be pasted into or opened into a spreadsheet (I use Excel).  Column AA (the 27th and last...

I've done that.  And often get in my car to find a "dead" iPod.  I'm sure it's some sort of user error, although I don't think it's as simple as leaving it playing.  But it's possible, if I turn it off after I shut down the car ignition.  I've always thought that something was waking up the iPod...

@Joe Bloggs:  You really should update your specs to be clear that that is each channel with both channels driven.  In my neck of the woods I assume if the spec doesn't say it, it ain't so  So you you are only getting half marketing ooomph you should be getting.  I assumed it was one channel...

    New Millett Hybrid Maxed Amp

Hi Tom, I only mentioned the 5 jacks to clarify the minimum needs for buffer biasing. I originally wasn't going to bother with biasing ports, more or less for the reasons you mentioned. However, it is becoming more of an issue for me simply because closing up the case radically alters the...

A couple of comments on Tomb's tip jack biasing scheme... because I'm muddling through some kind of solution I can live with but I'm not there yet. 1) I did that for my old Millett's tube bias but not the dDB bias points. The DrewD boards have 2 pads on 100 mil spacing on each bias point. I...

Rob, RA8 has enough room as long as you use the standard MKP cap or a smaller part, even without stripping the insulation from the SIP pin:

Larger size LED, what resistor? (originally was: Help with 100k ohm pot?)

The best way to tune the LED is to just try different resistors with it until you are happy. You can do this with a spare LED, resistor(s) and a battery. Try 5KR and 7KR for starters. RadioShack sells a pack of jumpers terminated with mini alligator clips; that is a handy thing to keep around...

    5v off a steps construction

Hi Tom, I kind of got burned out last summer and my two failed Alien Dac builds made me question my sanity. I also got to thinking about how many headphone amps I really need to listen to my iPod :-). But, yes, I've been lurking on diyforums and have had some discussions with Colin. That...

    5v off a steps construction

If your Steps transformer has a center tapped secondary or dual secondaries, you could tap off 18VAC for your DAC regulator. It all depends on the current draw of the DAC, your heat sinks and other particulars. Neil
