Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)
I’m pretty sure it will not as I don’t think the analog pins are active on the WM port just like they are not on the 1A/1Z and ZX300- nc8000

Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)
As far as I know there is no true line out possibillity with the A55. Some of the older Walkman players allowed line out from the WM port but I don’t believe the A55 offers this so the best you can do is from the headphone out- nc8000

Sony Z1R....listening impressions only
I only listen to music never movies. Part of my choice is that I generally prefer iem’s to full size headphones but I just generally prefer the IER sound. I must admit I rarely analyze my gear or break it down, I just see if it gives me enjoyment when listening.- nc8000

Mine have now been packed down for at least a year after just not getting any use, prefer the IER-Z1R. I’m not selling them though.- nc8000

Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)
It needs to have the correct tags in metadata to be recognised. There is a tool I think on the mqa web site that will analyze flac files and add the correct tags- nc8000

SONY IER-Z1R
It certainly does affect the sound to me (though not dramatically) and I would not call it thin, it is thicker than the stock cable and more flexible. It is an 8 wire cable. I paid €300 a piece including shipping for my 2 Blanche cables and to me that seems a fair price, even cheap compared to...- nc8000

SONY IER-Z1R
The stock cable is really very good. I went with the Dunu blanche as I generally prefer silver, it is a bit more flexible and flows better round the ear and then it has the swappable tips- nc8000

Sony Walkman custom firmware (non-Android)
Direct source gives the purest sound/signal as no processing takes place and many prefer that, but there is nothing wrong with disabling it and using the various sound effects if that produce a more enjoyable sound to you- nc8000

As I understand it that turns the XM4 into a pure analog headphone but I could be wrong- nc8000

Try to use the included cable with the XM4 and MrWalkman fw and see if you detect any meaningful differences to you- nc8000

Nothing from the player on either fw work over BT, only the settings you can set in the Sony headphone app. The only thing the player does is sending the digital stream of your music file to the headphone. All dac and amping is done purely by the headphone- nc8000

Sony Z1R....listening impressions only
There is no standard for which 2 elements on the trs plug are used or what signal goes to what element between various headphone manufacturers so any given cable may or may not work. When ordering a cable always specify which headphone it is to be used with. Some even just use ts plugs rather...- nc8000
