    The Stax Thread III

Man, kickstarter etc are incredible. Well over half a million USD raised for a HP campaign filled with nonsense, pseudo-science, buzzwords , and intentionally misleading statements. I wish I lacked a conscience so I could start promoting. I'm not even going to go over how much BS is on their...

Heading back to the airport now, thanks for having me. Special thanks to velvetx for giving me a ride and letting me borrow an amp and source. I haven't been to a norcal meet in a while so it was nice to see you guys again. Goal of this meet was to get some ears on my DIY HE90 Orpheus clones...

Isolate the issue.  I'm sure you have a TV or blu ray player, or CD player, or sound card, or something with RCA or XLR outs.  Connect your Stax setup to that and see if the issue goes away.  If it does, then you know for sure it's either the DAC or cable acting up.  If it doesn't then it's the...

    :sunrise: CanJam SoCal 2016 (March 19-20, 2016)

I'll be there Saturday to say hi to some friends, not sure about Sunday yet.  I was going to showcase my DIY Orpheus clones and some rare HPs but it looks like that kinda fell apart.  I'll probably bring the clones in my car in case anybody has a mini meet in their hotel room.  If so, don't...

Hmm, I dunno, I think the SR-507 midbass is quite a bit accentuated.  I much prefer the SR-007's bass.

The bias is generated from the audio signal thus no need for ac plug thus self bias thus SB.

The Sennheiser Orpheus 2? A First Look At The Sennheiser HE-1 (The New Orpheus)

To compare, here is @CEE TEE listening to my old Orpheus     To reiterate for the Nth time, the romantic nature of the HE90 is very much a byproduct of the HEV90.  The HP is very amp dependent.  IMO it's the most accurate HP ever.  I know 99% of people who have heard the HE90 have only...

    The Entry Level Stax Thread

You might want to try to find a used set of vintage Stax SR-Lambdas.  They're normal bias and a very good deal for the price.  I much prefer the original lineup of Lambdas to the modern lineups, especially for orchestral.  You can probably find a SR-Lambda and transformer box (SRD-6 or SRD-7)...
