    Review: ZERO 24 BIT/192KHz DAC/Headphone Amp/Pre-Amp

Here's one more opamp for you to try: the LT1364 (a dual opamp). Overall it's alive, warm sounding, yet maybe slightly bright. A favorite of mine. Also, I would try 2x AD797. Though I'm sure that the OPA627's work great.

my diy HD 580 cable build

I would use a high quality copper cable, probably. Silver is cool sounding enough that I don't know if it'd do much good to the HD580's own sound (thinking of my HD650, at least).

Yeah, they do look spliced, that's what has prevented me from trying them. The cheaper one uses 99.99% copper cable made by StreetWires. Nothing spectacular, but then again it's probably no worse than the Canare cable (not that it shouldn't be good). The headphone plug is surely good

Classical with Cute Beyond - op amp fine tuning

If ever electronics were sexy... Congrats! The AD797 would have been at the top of my list for that amp, too (though I didn't mention it before ). Where did you find that adapter? It's not a browndog..

Need sonic comparison, AD823 vs. 826 vs. 825

May try the LT1364: I think it's a great mixture of the opamps you (the OP) mentioned. It's easy to use, too, though not quite as easy as a FET opamp; you can use it without problems in many existing circuits. It's specified from as low as +/- 2,5V which should be good in your application.

Upgrade from HD 595 to HD 600 - Opinions??

Then other subjects would come into play. On the one hand, a student's budget; on the other, self-regulation would prevent me from spending so much money on a headphone! And I hate IEM stuff (I think it is somewhat unnatural both in form and in sound, thus really good only for portable)...
