"Millett Hybrid" redux: NuHybrid headphone amp, using the Korg Nutube

My router is 3ft away but it wasn't an issue before unless I didn't notice it, the ticking is hard to hear. I did move to a new house but all my equipment is the same.

"Millett Hybrid" redux: NuHybrid headphone amp, using the Korg Nutube

Occasionally my amp will pick up a weird ticking noise with no input. It doesn't change with volume and if I hover my hand over the tube, it goes away... I haven't been able to figure out what is causing it.

"Millett Hybrid" redux: NuHybrid headphone amp, using the Korg Nutube

Its been a few years since I built my o2 and wanted something new/different. I don't know if I have bad hearing but its not that microphonic. When you first turn it on there is a high pitch ring but it goes away after about 10 seconds. I have to tap on the case real hard to get it to ring, with...

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

I just realized that the Front lineout on the Xonar DG is also the headphone port which is amplified. The DX and D1 don't have a headphone amplifier?

Looking for a DIY DAC with Toslink input

I think the sound card had an audible hiss which why I got the Fiio. I would get a USB DAC if there was a way to use Dolby Headphone.

Looking for a DIY DAC with Toslink input

I'd like to try soldering SMD components and the only DAC with a Toslink input that I've come across is the y1 from AMB.   Are there any other DIY DACs around $100?

If you play them loud enough in a quiet room, they can be heard.

HDMI to optical or direct Optical through Motherboard

I have no idea. I would guess a dedicated optical adapter is best but its all digital till it gets to your Fiio. Most likely there would be no audible difference.

HDMI to optical or direct Optical through Motherboard

You can buy a sound card or USB adapter with optical out for $20. No need to limit yourself to only motherboards with optical.

    O2 AMP + ODAC

I measured 112db with 6.5x (Windows volume at 38) and 108db with 2.5x (Windows volume maxed) playing Metallica - No Leaf Clover. The volume was maxed out on the o2. Wouldn't adjusting the Windows volume decrease the voltage so it matches perfectly with the 6.5x gain setting?

X-Fi or Z-series? Optical-out, so I only need surround DSP effects (CMSS-3D, DD, DTS, THX)

Find out if the features you need can be outpt through optical. I use the Xonar DG optical output to a FiiO DAC. The Xonar DG supports Dolby Headphone which I use for games and movies. It also has a eax emulator but I never use it. Do any recent games use EAX?

No noticeable difference w/ sound card (amp) & v-moda m100

The bios probably disabled it when your new card was detected. Same thing happens when you install a GPU (onboard video gets disabled).

After about a week of owning these, they're amazing! The alpha pads are great, I can wear them for about 6 hours before they start to annoy me. Isolation is good too which is what I was hoping for with these. Plus I got myself a $10 banana hanger from Bed Bath and Beyond. Just waiting for my...

Question about changing the connector shells of an aftermarket cable

Oh... Those look like they snap into place, no need to desolder anything.
