As many have said before. It's the best you can do at this price point. Many have stated that if they never heard better (like 5k systems), they'd be perfectly content with the Zero. It is a great little unit with upgradeable potential.

Has anyone found a replacement cable for the stock one yet? I need something a little bit longer and straight. I tried extending it to the "reported" length of 10 feet and doing this puts quite a bit of strain on the end connected to the headphone.

Yes. You can easily switch it from Preamp mode which is just DAC. With the press of a button, it is in headphone mode which is DAC--->Headphone amp

I've burned them in for about 120 hours and they are still the same for rock/metal. Not the best for that genre in my opinion. I thought it was just my recordings since they sounded great for jazz r&b and all others.
