I'm actually referring to the analog compressors used for dynamic range compression. That's what actually crushes the mix. I don't really care about lossy /lossless digital file compression. A well mixed, un-squished 320 kbps is fine with me.

Unfortunately, you can't uncompress compressed music (outside the studio) , no matter how hard you try. But it's a pretty thought.

On the Andy Timmons front, probably my favorite album he features on is Simon Phillip's Protocol III. His playing is simply sublime on it: a great Fusion record. I think he recorded one of his most soulful tunes on it with Amrita

Cool man. She definitely falls on the heavy Fusion side. A Matter of Perception is one of my favorite instrumental albums of the last several years.

As an aside, you might wanna check out Nili Brosh, if you haven't heard of her. She's a protege of Tony Macalpine. A really talented instrumental songwriter with tons of technique

My 2m blue lasted for years. I only had to replace it when I stupidly brushed beneath it and broke the cantilever. A great sounding budget choice.
