Sony NWZ-ZX1 - 35th Walkman Anniversary model
Yeah they don't and it's weird that it's still capped. I returned my UK ZX1 for that reason and bought a Japanese unit off of soundblast75 and its definitely louder - I'd say that 100% volume on a UK one is about 70-75% on a Jap unit. Not much but that extra headroom can come in handy. I...- misteralakista

Ah yes true, but also coming from using Android since the first Galaxy S - which was what, 4 year ago? - and iPod Classics and the NWZ-A867 (fast in general but soooo slow with playlists) I'm quite happy how responsive the system is AS A WHOLE, at the same time with how advanced touch screen...- misteralakista

For me personally the UI is fine (not as zippy as say the Xperia Z1), but sometimes touches fail to register in the music app - like I'm moving too fast and the player is still trying to finish what I got it to do before.- misteralakista

Nope. It's basically a restart. Edit - Oh I didn't realise you got your sound enhancements working already. After my failed attempts at increasing output I also had the problem of ClearAudio+ and the EQ not working so I tried holding the power button and it restored it.- misteralakista

Have you tried resetting the player by holding the power button for 8 secs? Worked for me. Hmm... maybe I'll try the output trick once more tomorrow...- misteralakista

Yeah I knew this as well, but I think I read somewhere in this thread that the capping was supposed keep the volume down when an MP3 player was used WITH its supplied earphones, and since the ZX1 didn't come with any earphones the hopeful consensus was that a cap was not required... Why...- misteralakista

Haha I don't know anyone who would own a Japanese ZX1, unfortunately; and just the thought of buying it and importing it and returning a unit and waiting for the refund makes me tired! :P I'm still a student as well.. so... budgets.. I HAVE tried PPCG's tip to increase output power several...- misteralakista

Hmm... so the cap affects sound quality as well?? I probably would've gotten a Japanese ZX1 in the first place if it wasn't for the 20% off voucher I used. Although I've never really desired to listen above the maximum volume limit of anything I've owned, I do find it pretty odd that they'd...- misteralakista

Been following this thread for a while now and just got my UK unit today - I'm gonna say that there is a volume cap as I think it plays only a little louder than my Xperia Z1 and NWZ-A867, and the volume just about satisfies when I use my AKG K550s at full volume.- misteralakista
