  For me personally the UI is fine (not as zippy as say the Xperia Z1), but sometimes touches fail to register in the music app - like I'm moving too fast and the player is still trying to finish what I got it to do before.

  Nope. It's basically a restart.   Edit - Oh I didn't realise you got your sound enhancements working already. After my failed attempts at increasing output I also had the problem of ClearAudio+ and the EQ not working so I tried holding the power button and it restored it.

  Have you tried resetting the player by holding the power button for 8 secs? Worked for me. Hmm... maybe I'll try the output trick once more tomorrow...

  Yeah I knew this as well, but I think I read somewhere in this thread that the capping was supposed keep the volume down when an MP3 player was used WITH its supplied earphones, and since the ZX1 didn't come with any earphones the hopeful consensus was that a cap was not required... Why...

Been following this thread for a while now and just got my UK unit today - I'm gonna say that there is a volume cap as I think it plays only a little louder than my Xperia Z1 and NWZ-A867, and the volume just about satisfies when I use my AKG K550s at full volume.
