finally... some quality a cappella... (thread also known as "please support us")

Taipei: I have very fond memories of singing in my acapella group during my undergraduate days - the Humtones from Haverford College. We actually did a concert at UPenn with another group - the Penny Loafers my final semster at Haverford in the spring of 1992. Are they still around...

All you need is a mini to RCA cable. Headroom http://www.headphone.com/layout.php?...tID=0050150000 has a straightwire mini to RCA cable for $19.95. Once you get this connector cable all you have to do is plug the mini plug into the line out of your portable cd player and the RCA plugs into...

    Should I get a d-25s?

Jeff - you are right of course. FWIW I have compared the D-25s with the Panasonic SL-CT570, the Radio Shack 3904, and a newer Sony DEJ-616CK PCDPs. Amongst those players the SL-CT570 was "warm" sounding to me. The D-25S and the RS3904 were definitely not warm sounding to my ears. I...

Jazz sale at Tower.com (Impulse! & Verve)

My favorite post "A Love Supreme" Coltrane record is also "Interstellar Space". There's something about that sound of just sax. and drums that really gets me. The absence of bass or a keyboard instrument just really seems to liberate Trane into the outer stratospheres.

How often do you use your Grado, preferably the sr-80.

I highly recommend the Grado SR-80s as an introduction to the world of audiophile headphones. The SR-80s were my first decent set of cans and as recephasan points out they are an incredible deal as far as sound quality/price ratio goes. IMO you won't find a better sounding headphone for under...

    A good book about jazz?

I'll second the recommendation for Giddin's "Visions of Jazz" - or any of Giddin's books for that matter. IMHO he is the best jazz writer alive today. However, "Visions of Jazz" does not make a good introduction for someone just getting into jazz IMO. It is a series of essays each of which...

    A good book about jazz?

The best general overview of jazz that I have ever read is Ted Gioia's "The History of Jazz" by Oxford University Press. It's available in paperback for about $15.95, is 471 pages and covers everything from the pre-jazz history which impacted jazz and led to its development to the current...

Thanks Joe, I wasn't aware that Headroom sold that adaptor cable until you pointed it out. For $50.00 extra bucks I can have the best of both worlds.
