Were you able to install the new headband yourself?

In his gear list for Big Sound 2015, he lists the price for the GS-X as $2800, so I'm guessing he had the Alpha pot.

That's pretty much par for the course, at least in my experience. After using the PS1000 for a while, the top of my head always hurts a little. I haven't been able to find a solution. I put up with it because I like the sound.

Yes, I did. I might be in a position in the future to purchase it again. I just wanted to get a sense of the timeline of production. I still love the amp, regardless of the fact that I sold it. :)

Hey Hastur, Do you know the output impedance for the preamp stage on both XLR and RCA outputs? I know the output impedance for the headphone outputs is 0.5 ohms and 0.7 ohms, respectively. Thanks!

For the people who already have the HA-1, can anybody compare the amplifier section to the Headamp GS-X mk2? Right now, I'm running an Oppo 105 via XLR to the Headamp GS-X mk2. My primary headphones right now are the Grado PS1000. The sound is great, but I also wouldn't mind downsizing my setup...

At least with their disc players, Oppo has always had a 30-day money-back return policy. I would assume that it's the same for the PM-1.

Will the 2.5mm mono jacks allow for aftermarket balanced cables, or is this an inherently unbalanced design?

  I totally agree about upstream equipment, but my original point was not actually how they sounded different from the store to my own personal rig. My point was that the same unit, after repair, sounds very different on my own personal rig.

  It's quite possible that you received a dud, but I dunno. The unit I bought at first sounded quite different than what I had previously heard from a demo unit at a store. Now that I had them repaired, they just sound so much better.   It really makes me wonder how different the PS1000 might...
