HD700 or HD800
I'm using the non expensive NuForce DAC100 to drive the 800. I think it is really nice combo. The 800 sounds flat and very detailed. Maybe an expensive tube amp could be better for the 800s but with US$1000 DAC100 + 800s the 700s cannot compete for sure.- manzana

Nice review, nice pictures. I have the hm602 to amp the he400s, I use to set volume around 7 ( (mine has 0-10 scale) on high gain. You said 2,5 for he500, is it ok?? I think it's to low for 400s at least. have a nice day!- manzana

HD800 vs HE500
+1. I love listening rock in the HD800, but when I want bass impact for harder rock, as Sonido described, I prefer HE400 (unfortunaly I don't have the 500s). But HE400 are a good pair of headphones too. Ohh, my chains are very simple: PC > Asus STX (optical output) > NuForce DAC-100 > HD800...- manzana

LCD-2 vs. HE-5LE
+1 Yesterday I try EF6/HE-6 and EF6/LCD2.2. After 3 hours of listening I can say the same: Hifimans are superior tonally. HE-6 are the best orthos which I've ever heard. This week I'll try the LCD3. I hope that could be better than lcd2.- manzana

The Basshead Club
I have been listening HE400 with velour pads and default cable for a year and I never heard any sibilance. I listened the he-400 a follow: Deadbeef > STX > HE-400 Deadbeef > STX > EF-5 > HE-400 Deadbeef > STX (optical output) > NuForce DAC-100 > HE-400 Deadbeef > STX (optical output) >...- manzana

HD800 vs HE500
Hi, last month I bought the 800's with a Nuforce DAC-100 as DAC and amp. Before that I spent a lot of time comparing HE500 (burned), HE-5LE(burned), HD800(unburned), and LCD2 rev2(burned). I was really impressed with the 5LE, I think these are a very good headphones for everything (for me...- manzana

Linux users unite!
Another linux user here. Since 2005. I have used many distros in the past, Debian, Mageia, Slackware, Arch, OpenSuse, Mint, etc. Now I'm very happy with kubuntu 13 (kde 4.11). It is stable and fast. I use it on my home desktop (i7 4770 + HD7990 + Xonar STX) and on my netbook (atom 1.5GHz with...- manzana

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out
Quote: Quote: Quote: Good thing, I found the K702 new for US$400 (I live in Chile), the HE500 for US$590, and the Beyers DT880@250 for US$500. If the HE500s aren't a good compliment, I'll go for AKGs. I didn't find HD650. Thanks guys!- manzana
