Woo's New Flagship WA33
I found AIC-10 respond very well to tubes, my findings are here. I was considering purchasing WA33 JPS EE, but was difficult to audition so instead tried Viva Egoista 845 and Riviera AIC-10. After realising how hot Viva runs, I decided not to pursue WA33 anymore. Riviera on the other hand runs...- mammal

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
Congratulations on your own pair of 1266 TC, a wonderful headphone. As someone who owned Bartok and Riviera AIC-10, and demoed Viva Egoista 845 extensively, I must say that Bartok is a fantastic amplifier. Viva (for 12.5k Eur) only raised the bar by 10%, which was not worth it in my opinion. As...- mammal

@turbofeet so with Bartok you definitely want its balanced out (not single ended) - read my review here. As for plugs, I went with the upgraded (pure copper) Aeco, but I never tried anything else from Lavricables, so cannot comment on other options. On the headphone side, it was Furutech.- mammal

Audiophiles Anonymous
Dear friends, new head-fiers and oldies who remember me, I wanted to report in our Audiophile Anonymous that after taking some time off, and speaking with a therapist, I am feeling much better. I hope you don't mind me sharing, what I learned. I am now of an opinion that one needs to satisfy 4...- mammal

HIFIMAN Shangri-La: The New Electrostatic Headphones From HIFIMAN
As someone who considered and listened to both, I gotta say that HE-1 feels much more intimate (and less detailed), but has better slam (not as much as AB-1266 though). Be careful with HE-1, after speaking to their sales rep, they said they no longer do black marble, warranty is only 2 years...- mammal

Something new Monday...
With sources like this, it starts feeling disproportional, would prefer having more percentage spent on the transducers. Smaller announcement than 1266 was, or smaller product (physically)?- mammal

Something new Monday...
Am I the only one hoping for 10-20k Abyss headphone? A successor to 1266 TC that can surpass Shangri-la Sr?- mammal

Reply to review by 'mammal' on item 'dCS Bartok'
@Vindication I did actually use it with Movies and Games, mainly Games though. Most recently I played Red Dead Redemption 2 and was blown away with its spacial cues. I did try the same with HTT2 (without MScaler) and it wasn't the same. As for tube sound, I absolutely agree that Bartok can...- mammal
