First CMOY: Static when connected to computer
I wound up buying one of these on E-bay: USB 2.0 Mic Speaker 5.1 Audio Sound Card ADAPTER #9516 - eBay (item 160296843641 end time Dec-04-08 19:38:48 PST) and much to my surprise, it worked fine! Static is now gone and my CMOY sounds great! A cheap fix for a couple of bucks!- Malanga

First CMOY: Static when connected to computer
Now I wonder, would there be any advantage to using one of these: NEW USB 2.0 EXTERNAL SOUND CARD 3D 5.1 AUDIO ADAPTER - eBay (item 300275787171 end time Nov-24-08 12:39:37 PST) Or would this give me the same noise out of the USB port instead of the headphone jack? What I am trying to do...- Malanga

First CMOY: Static when connected to computer
I think you are right about the noise tangent. It only occurs when plugged into the computer, not an mp3 player or battery-operated cd player. Where might I find such a USB DAC?- Malanga

Recommendation for earbud headphones < $30.00
My idea is to get a pair of portable earphones to use at work that are not very pricey. As they could get stolen, I did not want to go too high on the price. The particular style was not so much an issue. Thanks!- Malanga

Recommendation for earbud headphones < $30.00
Hello all. I am new to headphone amps (In the process of building a Millet Starving Student amp and and a CMOY) and I am hoping someone could recommend a pair of earbud-size headphones to use at my workplace. recommendations for a tube amp for small speakers?
I still think the miniblock is your best option if you are on a starving student budget. I hooked mine up to a Cerwin Vega I once had which had an efficiency of about 90db, and although it did not shake the windows, I thought the volume was decent for one watt. If you are concerned with more...- Malanga

recommendations for a tube amp for small speakers?
I guess it would depend on how efficient a speaker your talking about. The Darling SET comes to mind:"Darling" SE 1626 Amps This puts out a whopping 800 miliwatts! I build one and I love it. Another options is the miniblock tube amp designed by the late Fred Nachbaur: Fred Nachbaur's...- Malanga
