Best place to buy classical music CDs cheaply?
Do you know specifically what you are after? If not, the library is a great resource, especially if your county has a larger system where you can browse the entire library system's collection and borrow from any library in that system. Another great resource which can help is a music on... -
upgrade from Shure SCL3 to SE315
I own the SE315's and I really enjoy them. I do not find them fatiguing at all to listen to. I've used the at work for 2 - 3 hours straight. I ususally use them in bed at night reading and going to sleep. I can lay my head on my pillow with these and not worry about smashing them into my...- maggior

iPhone 5 (and new Touch) has totally new dock connector - 'Lightning' - adapters available but no line-out
Quote: I don't know about other car interfaces, but mine and my wife's (Volvo XC70 and S60) seem to be making use or the analog out. If I stick an USB stick in the USB jack, I do not get gapless playback through my stereo. If I plug my iPod (which has the same exact mp3 files on it)...- maggior

iPhone 5 (and new Touch) has totally new dock connector - 'Lightning' - adapters available but no line-out
Quote: If this turns out to be true (which it probably will), their presentation was VERY misleading. They showed a slide of a new iPod touch connected up with an adapter connected in a car, implying that if you have a car with the traditional iPod interface, that simply by getting the...- maggior

IEM for intense workouts?
I suspsect the OP has already made a decision, but for others that stumble across this thread, I'll add my 2 cents. I just got a pair of Monster iSport iems and I love them. These have the strongest bass I've ever heard in an iem. The fit is incredible. If you get these, be sure to read...- maggior

Practical Devices won't honor money back guarantee on XM6
I've never had to return an amp to PD, but I did have some technical issues when I bought my XM4 3 years ago or so. The problem was related to noise from a DC power supply. There was a package deal at the time with the power supply and rechargable battery if you bought them with the amp at the...- maggior

Practical Devices XM4 Battery
Quote: I actually searched for less DIY solutions first, including a multipurpose power supply from Radio Shack, but they don't stock it any more. Fortunately I know which end of the soldering iron to hold, so it wasn't too big of a deal. The XM4 wasn't exactly cheap when I bought it...- maggior

Practical Devices XM4 Battery
I had a similar problem a few months back. I could not find a source for a lithium battery locally or online. Online prices were rediculous because to ship it it was considered "hazardous material". The cheapest option was to buy the kit again from Practical Devices - which didn't seem...- maggior

FiiO E11 & E11K & A3 Information + Support
Quote: I noticed interference when using my iPod Touch with the E11 - so it isn't just the iPhone. I was listening to Spotify, so putting the iPod into airplane mode wasn't an option. I seemed to notice this only when I was using the supplied band to hold the amp and iPod together. If...- maggior

E11, a new start of FiiO's portable amp ( added some real photo )
From my reading on the E11, the unit ships with the voltage selector behind the battery set to "low". Mine was set to "high". Based on casual listening, there is no difference with my Grado headphones. Should I set it to low to save battery? Is there something subtle I should listen for...- maggior

E11, a new start of FiiO's portable amp ( added some real photo )
I just got my E11 today. It is a very impressive little amp. It did feel a little plasticy compared to my Practical Devices XM4, but I also paid 3x as much for the XM4. Sound quality is great. My main headphones are Grado SR225 which seem to lack bass on certain types of music. The...- maggior

E11, a new start of FiiO's portable amp ( added some real photo )
I decided to jump on one of these. I was happy to find it available on Amazon (fulfilled by Micca). You can get it bundled with an extra battery and charger for no extra money! I'm looking forward to getting my new toy!- maggior

Ibasso D6 versus Practical Devices XM 6
I have an XM4, which shares some features with the XM6. It has variable crossfeed and bass boost. The XM6 will also boost treble. These features were fun to play with at first, but I never ever use them. I'm a bit of a purist and perfer not to add any equalization to the signal. The build...- maggior

wich portable amp is good?
IEMs from Shure lay flat in your ear. I have a pair of SE-315's that I use to go to sleep with. I can lay with my ear flat on the pillow with them on. The SE215, SE425, and SE535 have the same form factor. Quote:- maggior

Are you backing up your digital collection ?
Quote: No 10,000 line Perl script required. There is a utility called rsync (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rsync) that is included in Linux distro's that can accomplish a full incremental back up in one line. I wrote a shell script that includes four lines that make calls to RSync to...- maggior
