thanks for the input guys.... i guess ill try lon420's method. i had the same thought as well... i.e putting them into something to protect them and shoving them into the machine. if it doesnt go well... i guess ill have to get the DT770 pads from headroom.... i checked the beyer...

guys....need help with my DT990 after 2-3 years of almost daily usage.... its time to clean my cans... problem is HOW??? i need to clean the velour pads...theyre no longer silver/grey...theyre more like light brown now... i guess all the oil from my face must have stuck to the pads...

ok... i think ive decided on my final setup with the Zero.... ESI Maya44 -> (ZERO + OPA627AP in DAC) -> (Cute Battery II Headamp + OPA627AP) -> Beyerdynamic DT990 '05. the battery has a slighly narrower soundstage than the zero's amp..but i dont really need soundstage since i listen mainly...
