its been almost a year since ive touched my soldering iron let alone make a cable...i was so rusty it took me 6 and a half hours to finish this RCA-RCA cable sheesh! anyway...my latest creation...uni-directional RCA-RCA cables for use from my Fubar II USB DAC to my Battery Cute II Headamp...- mADmAN

GREAT!!!! does this mean the DT770 pads from headroom will change the sound on the DT990s? i really would like to avoid buying from beyer site... too expensive... and that still doesnt include shipping- mADmAN

thanks for the input guys.... i guess ill try lon420's method. i had the same thought as well... i.e putting them into something to protect them and shoving them into the machine. if it doesnt go well... i guess ill have to get the DT770 pads from headroom.... i checked the beyer...- mADmAN

guys....need help with my DT990 after 2-3 years of almost daily usage.... its time to clean my cans... problem is HOW??? i need to clean the velour pads...theyre no longer silver/grey...theyre more like light brown now... i guess all the oil from my face must have stuck to the pads...- mADmAN

did this a long time ago into a phillips.... click on the Franken PhilKoss in my siggy to view... had to pad the interior of the can to give it more body. was supposed to do the blue tak mod. but i got lazy and the cans are still the same til now. my guess would be, the cheapish plastic of...- mADmAN

just as an FYI for those who wants to know... the Fubar III is a combination of the Fubar II USB DAC and the Cute Battery II headamp both of which i happen to own and have been very happy with for about 2 years now. especially after shoving in 2107 and 627 opamps in them EDIT: also...- mADmAN

ok... i think ive decided on my final setup with the Zero.... ESI Maya44 -> (ZERO + OPA627AP in DAC) -> (Cute Battery II Headamp + OPA627AP) -> Beyerdynamic DT990 '05. the battery has a slighly narrower soundstage than the zero's amp..but i dont really need soundstage since i listen mainly...- mADmAN

The ZERO is almost identical to the Zhaolu... even looks the same... heard the design was also based on the Zhaolu...so no surprises that it doesnt have a USB. i guess a cheap option would be to get a USB -> SPDIF converter. ive heard both good and bad about the converters though and that...- mADmAN
