Sold my HD800s and looking to get an open-back headphone for under $500
My headphone quest originally started with the HD555's which I loved but outgrew. I picked up the HD600s, which had a very tight clamping force that I didn't find very comfortable. I tried various AKG headphones and the NAD VISO, but ultimately bought the HD800s, which served me well for many...- maclenltd

The Pono Player Impressions Thread
That's what I feared. So this is basically a "clinical" sounding DAC from Ayre. I really wish they would add EQ functionality in a future firmware update, or this may be very well going on eBay.- maclenltd

The Pono Player Impressions Thread
Apologies if this has already been covered, but any particular recommendations for burning in? I received my player last week and find it bright, even with music that is 24/88 and above and doesn't sound bright with other DACs. Should pink or white noise be used, or just whatever music I have...- maclenltd

The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread
Thank you for clarifying this. I think I was confusing myself. The amp that I am using has a DAC built-in and there doesn't seem to be a way to bypass it. That being said, your advice to take the output from my phono preamp into a headphone amp without a DAC would definitely work. I can't...- maclenltd

The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread
Anyone have any inside tips for listening to vinyl (all analog) with their HD800s? I can obviously take an output and amp it up with a newer headphone amp but then it is unnecessarily converted to a digital stream. Has anyone had success using the HD800 with vintage headphone amps or vintage...- maclenltd

I'm looking to upgrade the stock hd800 cable, but spend no more than $400. Is the Cardas-Senheiser HD800 Headphone Upgrade Cable from music direct a decent choice? I'm pairing it with a V200 amp. http://www.musicdirect.com/p-778-cardas-hd800-upgrade-cable.aspx- maclenltd

Amp/DAC for HD800
Hi, I recently purchased the HD800s and have been using them with the JDS labs O2/ODAC. While I'm happy with the SQ, I can't get the HD800s loud enough to enjoy listening to them (unless I apply a lot of extra gain manually in foobar). What would you recommend for an amp/DAC (either combo or...- maclenltd
