The DX90 by iBasso . . . Sound impressions . . . . . . . New Firmware, 2.5.1 . . .
Hi all, quick question regarding purchasing the DX90 direct from iBasso. I live in the UK and know that I am very likely to get wacked with a 20% VAT charge plus about another 4% import duty charge if I buy direct from iBasso. However, I have a friend who lives in the USA who is coming to...- Loz2103

24bit vs 16bit, the myth exploded!
Sorry, I should have explained my setup. I'm streaming the music over ethernet from my music server to a squeezebox, then from the squeezebox to the DAC. I'm pretty sure that the Squeezebox server is not resampling on the fly, but I suppose it could be.- Loz2103

24bit vs 16bit, the myth exploded!
Not sure if this has been discussed yet or not. Apologies if it has. So, I listened to my first hi-res 24bit/88.2kHz recording the other day. At the time to be honest it sounded pretty normal to me. Then I realised that I was listening to it on my secondary system, which the DAC only has 3...- Loz2103

Windows Media Player and Flac
"I'm very anal on how I like things organised" - Everybody is, I definitely am. It's a shame you couldn't get Foobar to work. It may be worth giving it another go. -
Windows Media Player and Flac
I use media monkey to tag and organise all my tracks for all formats, I haven't found anything that can beat it. However, for play back I can't recommend Foobar highly enough. Just my two cents, I know the post wasn't directed at me ;) -

Denon D2000 Vs D5000 Treble
I have a pair of D5000 and find them quite fatiguing. I'm not exactly sure what frequency band this is down to, they definitely have a strong bass response.- Loz2103

Best full desktop setup for under $1000
Just thought I'd update people with what I finally got. I know this is an old thread now, but I thought I'd complete it by saying I finally got a used pair of Denon D5000 and a Fiio E17. I'm pretty pleased :)- Loz2103

Thanks for your input Uncle Erik. I like the DIY kit route, I'll look into this more. Believe me, I'd love to go vinyl also. However, the small problem that I don't own a single record combined with the feeling that a turntable won't go down very well in the office, could be a slight issue ;)- Loz2103

Thanks Brooko, another great explanation. To be honest I like the sound of the DT880 and their semi-open approach. I'll see if I can't find somewhere that will let me audition them this weekend.- Loz2103

Thanks to Liam and Curra for two great explanations. I really appreciate your thoughts. It's all a lot to take in, but I'm trying. Brooko, to answer your questions: Quote: 1.) All types. I know this doesn't help much, but I really do. I would say when I'm working, and this...- Loz2103
