Lenovo laptop with Dolby EQ better than Chord Mojo
No worries, thank you for the suggestions. The dolby app actually becomes disabled when there is nothing plugged into the 3.5mm audio port, so it does not work when the mojo takes over. I can however set the eq to flat in the dolby app and compare dacs that way.- ljbrandt

Lenovo laptop with Dolby EQ better than Chord Mojo
Great question, I wish I knew what it was changing the eq settings to, but alas it only displays this... Hate to admit it but just playing through youtube... lately I've been into the grateful dead. Regarding the mojo, I've had it for about 3yrs and the battery life isn't terrible but also not...- ljbrandt

Lenovo laptop with Dolby EQ better than Chord Mojo
Yep, title says it all. How can this be? I had to post this after bringing my work laptop home yesterday and using it in my bedroom rig. First using the mojo with the lenovo laptop directly into a Job 225 and JBL studio 530's....sounded good as always. Then, on a whim, plugged the T580 laptop...- ljbrandt

Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆
Experiencing my first problem with my mojo and looking for advice... The power button (ball) won't physically depress and I can't turn the unit on (or off) any longer. The springiness and soft clicking of the power ball is completely gone and it just spins. Is there any easy fix to this or am...- ljbrandt

Tiny DAC, Big Sound, Evolved – Stoner Acoustics UD100 / UD110 / UD120
The Stoner UD120 is really a special DAC. I've been comparing it back and forth to a Chord Mojo and the difference is pretty marginal. Treble is slightly more detailed and smoother on the Mojo, but I think the UD120 has a little better bass impact. Very small (but noticeable) differences...- ljbrandt

USB Interface VS. Toslink from PC
Thanks PurpleAngel I think the S/PDIF output of the PC will be just fine as well, especially when using a good glass fiber cable. The only thing that has me 2nd guessing myself is what I've ready about jitter and clocks and timing and all these type things. That's what led me to ask the...- ljbrandt

USB Interface VS. Toslink from PC
You have a point about the drivers, but there's like a 250 page thread here on head-fi about these new usb interface boards. My intention is to start with the realtek optical out of the PC directly to my A/V receiver with a glass toslink cable and see how that goes...- ljbrandt

USB Interface VS. Toslink from PC
Thanks for the advice, although the USB interface I'm referring to is the newer SOTA XMOS boards based on the new XU208 receiver chip.- ljbrandt

Help me understand USB to S/PDIF converters?
I have the same question, but my receiver is a Yamaha RX-Z9. Would a $60 SMSL X-USB interface be worth sticking in-between the PC and A/V receiver?- ljbrandt

USB Interface VS. Toslink from PC
I need some help... I have a Yamaha RX-Z9 A/V receiver that I'll be using as a DAC/amp with a computer desktop setup. The amp accepts toslink/coaxial digital inputs up to 24/192k. Question 1: Would it be acceptable to just connect my PC's MB's toslink output direct to the Yamaha or...- ljbrandt

Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆
I'd interested to try a Mojo as a desktop DAC (I'm not a headphone guy). I've searched this thread, but it doesn't seem like there's a consensus for a bargain micro USB to use for a desktop solution (ala the infamous Belkin USB gold back in the day). I'm not really interested to spend more...- ljbrandt

New M8 DAC from SMSL (9018/XMOS)
I kind of figured this would be the case. The UD120 actually bested an iFi nano I tired awhile ago. I have a feeling most dacs under $200-300 bucks will sound about the same. I really can't justify spending more than that on a DAC. I beleive a bigger return on investment would be seen in better...- ljbrandt

Have you owned the M8 as well? If so, how did it compare to the UD120?- ljbrandt
