    ARRIVED: new Rega DAC

Yes! I also have the original Rega DAC. I agree: sounds warm-ish and almost analog (which probably means distortion, but I don't care). I am using mine in a 2-channel system with a budget streamer for Spotify Connect playback.

Sennheiser HD660S... Finally a successor for the HD650?

What do you think of the difference in sound stage between the two (Clear and 660S)? I agree that the 660S are a better set of 'phones than the 650, from a detail viewpoint. But both the 650 and the 660S have a "3-blob" character, with respect to sound stage. I am looking for my go-to cans for...

I have the same NAD amp ... a giant killer, IMO.

I have an HD-650 already ... I've spent more that the "difference" on tubes. I am not a fan of the HD-650s with classical music, but love them with many other genres.

AudioQuest NightHawk Impressions and Discussion Thread

How many cable adapters does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Owning a Sony PHA-3 drove me to purchase 2x3.5mm balanced headphone cables for some of my cans. Then, I added the Drop LCX, which meant XLR-4 (shared adapter, in some cases). Finally, the Sony Walkman WM1A and its 4.4mm Pentaconn...

I've read the opposite is true; that you should always connect your 'phones before turning on and disconnect after turning off tube amps. I've read that this is less of an issue with OTL amps, but in general is best practice. In fact, this is what Woo Audio recommends in user manual: Turning...

    Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

I recently moved to a Sony Walkman WM1A, with a measured OI of 0.92 ohms, and experienced what the SE846 are capable of... wow, what a sound.

Don't know about *we*, but *I* do... I bought this chair in 1996 and it's still like new. By the way, the Aeron Chair by Herman Miller definitely adds more bass slam, more air between the instruments, and a wider sound stage.

The new Woo arrived, yesterday! Starting off with the provided tubes to acclimate to the sound. Will soon roll-in a pair of Western Electric 421a, Telefunken E188CC drivers, and Telefunken EZ80 rectifiers. Initial impressions: well, it's louder :L3000: than my WA3, which is now at my office...

The other set of 'phones on my list. Thanks!

Slightly off topic: so, are you not a fan of the Z1R? Asking, because I am considering a purchase and your note above is the first I've read about the problems with the 70mm driver.

    SONY NW-WM1Z / WM1A

I am just going to throw out an opinion, based on my own listening experience. Be careful judging headphones with a lot of back-and-forth listening. It takes time for your brain to adjust to the new sound. What I have learned at meets is that your brain sort-of has a baseline for judgement that...
