I laughed quite hard at your car analogy, because every Tesla driver thought they had the best electric car until they drive the Jaguar I-PACE for the first time. Most of my mates sold their Tesla almost immediately. I agree with your wife about the Sony, they have changed my perspective...

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

On the topic of M4U 1 and PM-3, I tried both and decided to go for the latter. Why? Personal preference. Which is better? Why is it better? Is it really better?  One man's meat is another man's poison. I like it, you don't, he likes it, she doesn't. That is just the way it is.  Glad there...

Baby, sometimes love just ain't enough...

Background  About a year ago, Westone released their new W-series in ears, and I happily jumped on the wagon when the W40 was released, only to realise a few months later the W50 and W60 was announced. Well, that is impulse buying for you...  So after a year using and enjoying the W40, I...

    AEDLE VK-1 Limited Edition Headphones

It would be exciting what they can come out with, especially when the in-ear market is getting quite saturated in the recent years.

New Teac HA-P50-B Portable DAC Amp

There are, but they are harder to find. Alternatively there are adapters in the market that converts "regular" square heads into your "round heads" used on consumer units.

HI Mark, looks like you have a nice set up and studio going there. I think we have very different "ears" though. I started out as a blessed engineer, working from Quested, Genelac, NS10M (mono bloc driven) to large 3-way Quested, recently adding Adam S2A and Eve Audio 205s to my home studio. I...

The Beyerdynamic Tesla DT 1350 Impressions thread

      (1) Buy them from Beyerdynamic direct or from the regional distributor. For some weirdest reasons, they don't make their dealers stock parts.  (2) Lessen the clamping is best done so by "brute force", so to speak. Physically bending the headband gently but with force. Or use a basketball...

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

HD25s had better isolation, but it comes with the price. Head clamp. Not as comfortable as the PM-3s.

Thanks for the "note" on how well the PM-3 performs without the need for an amp. I thought the PM-3 did gain some nicer bottom end with the TEAC HA-P50, but I do like how it sounds just with the iPod Nano. Looks like you are enjoying the PM-3 with your Note and iPod Touch 5g. Nice!

Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

Wrote a simple review of my OPPO PM-3 purchase, and in the comment field I will update with my own discovery of the PM-3 sound. This is a very interesting pair of headphones. Currently serving in my home studio as my tracking headphones. It helps when the cans are not fatiguing for long sessions...

Surprise, surprise... though I enjoy the various "colors" I get with different set ups at home and on the move, it turned out that a direct connection to the Apple iPod Nano (7th Gen) is the "perfect-est" match for me. It really sound strangely good. Well at least I am really enjoying it. ...

Flown for the first time with the PM-3s, and it turned out to be quite disappointing. Maybe it is just that I am so used to IEMs or noise cancelling (Parrot Zik) headphones, but the PM-3 really didn't make the cut for me. The noise from the engines caused all sorts of havoc in the cans, and the...

Review by 'kleefurd' on item 'OPPO PM-3'

Never owned a Planar Magnetic headphones and have been wondering what the fuss is all about. Only impression I had on them were "expensive". But yet, over the period of time that I have read all the reviews here, it seems that everyone who owns a pair have nothing but good things to say. So when...

I order them direct from the Beyerdynamics distributor in my region.

New Teac HA-P50-B Portable DAC Amp

I find the treble "tamed" and the bottom end more pronounced. The mids are a little cleaner, but as compared to the other more neutral headphones/earphones, the Triple Fi does not really change much, nor benefit sonically when paired with the HA-P50.
