I purchased a pair from a local dealer but unfortunately they have a slight channel imbalance so I'm gonna have to return them. I read a post that stated the same and that it went away after further use but I'm not taking a chance on that.

Have you tried to connect the HE-560 to the speaker terminals on your NAD? If you read up on the correct way to do this it's perfectly safe. Connected to a speaker amp my HE-500 sounds better than any headphone amp I've had. If it works you can use a switch box to select either speakers or...

Have you considered the Shure SRH1540. Reading your requirements it seems like they would work for you. I absolutely love mine to the point where I could easily live with just that headphone if I had to.
