That did it--thanks! The Windows update must have reset it to 32.

Schiit Eitr impression and USB-SPDIF converters discussion

My Eitr stopped working the other day. It's cooked up via SPDIF to my Mimby. The Eitr powers on fine and my PC recognizes it, but I'm getting no audio--through speakers or headphones. I tried a different SPDIF cable and same result. If move the USB cable from the Eitr to the Mimby then I get...

    Headphones for <400USD?

I've had the HD650 for about 6 months now. Last week I got a pair of M1060's to audition and I'm already setting up to let them go. The sound was good, but to me not as good as the HD650--but the HD650 comfort level for me was far superior. The HD650 was like wearing a glove--snug and light...

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Frankly it’s a miracle of science that the Jot can produce any audio at all. It’s essentially an aluminum box filled with a mess of wires and circuits.

...which again raises the point that perhaps he's not measuring the right things.

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

There is no official recommendation that I know of. Anecdotally, I keep mine on all the time. I subjectively think it sounds better warm. It is warm but not hot to the touch. I am not concerned with keeping it on.

    Crack;Bottlehead OTL

I've got one already, but it's not hooked up yet. I've known for a while that I was going to need to put a switch between the Jot (preamp) and the Crack so that I could also have my PC hooked up to an old Onkyo receiver hooked to passive speakers. So if I dump the Jot, I'll need to get another...

    Crack;Bottlehead OTL

So far I'm not super thrilled with using the Jot as a preamp to the Crack. I'm getting extra hum and hiss that I don't get when I plug my mimby directly into the Crack (or mimby into the Jot when I listen through the Jot). I might just need to play around with the volume and see if there's a...

    Crack;Bottlehead OTL

I had no sound in the right channel both after the Crack build and the Speedball build, measurements were fine on each. For the Crack, resoldering the joints between and on the headphone jack and the volume attenuator did the trick (not sure which joint was ultimately the culprit). For the...

    Crack;Bottlehead OTL

Just finished my Crack build yesterday—I’ll start the Speedball upgrade in another week or so after I’ve given the standard build a fair shake. Then on to tube rolling and then of course I’ll be all done:wink: In the meantime I’m hoping someone can advise on my setup—currently I use HD650, fed...

They realized they get a lot more traffic with over-the-top negative reviews of schiit products, rather then drown it the slew of positive reviews.

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

It’s been a bit, but I wanted to follow up with my impressions on the Jot vs. Magni 3 with various configurations. I’m using HD650s for all configurations (compared using the 3.5 jack). I got a used Jot with the phono module (the module is replacing a Art DJ Pre II). I can’t really A/B test the...

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV

Picked up a used Jot with internal phono module. It's replacing a Magni 3, DJ Art II, and an old passive RCA switch box. I also have a Fulla 2 hooked up as DAC-only, which I plan on replacing with a Mimby some time soon. I typically listen with HD650s (now with a balanced cable). I'm just a...

    New Member Introductions thread

I really shouldn't have joined up. I told myself I was fine with my current setup, but are we ever really fine?
