Windows vs Mac vs Linux
If you can afford the hardware, I'd go Mac....actually, I did. Second choice would be a PC running a Linux OS. Third choice would be anything other than a Windows based system. Heck, grab a used laptop on the cheap and slap Ubuntu/Kubuntu on it. Even that would be light years better than a...- KenW

Anyone still use the Yellow comply foam tips with the Shure SE530
Yellow tips? Nope. I'm simply in love with the Westone Comply tips. Use 'em on my E500 as well as my im716's. Just super comfortable. Tried every tip I could find and even the Shure foamies didn't surpass the Comply tips.- KenW

a question for dremel users
You didn't say how you'd be using the tool so all I can do is tell you about my experiences with those units. In my business I use these type tools daily and have used Dremel with great success. I've even got one for my dogs nails if you can believe that. Dremel makes a fine product and they're...- KenW

Do you prefer to store your library on Mac or PC
My FLAC files are kept on an external, wirelessly networked HD which can be and is accessed by all my networked machines. I have two Macs and 2 PCs running Linux. No Windows boxes on the network.....thankfully. -
What's the best phone you ever heard out of balanced desktop with DAC
Had the HR balanced for a brief time along side my Supra XLR so my experience with that one is somewhat limited. At that time, the full sized cans I owned were the PS-1, HD600, HD650, 701 and Denon 5000's. Running balanced I enjoyed the 650's the most while the PS-1's were my hands down...- KenW

64 GB Touch soon?
Considered a Touch, but the price is still way too high and there's no way I'll do an iPhone with all the issues of late, but especially if Apple is going to start this kind of BS ala Microsoft. iPhone phones home- KenW

Macbook
I used to hate iTunes on the PC, but on a Mac, it's really quite good. You might give it another extended look now that you're on a mac. As krmathis has pointed out, you can transcode the FLAC files and use iTunes. Btw and somewhat OT, if you haven't discovered it yet, I'd suggest VLC as an...- KenW

How far are you along in your journey?
Reached that point and sold everything some time ago. Only an ipod and E500 remain. Plan on picking up a set of cans that an iPod can drive adequately but that's it.- KenW

So conflicted... help please
JMO but I'm not a big fan of portable amps. Just never found the improvements worth the expense and hassle of carrying one around. For me, the IEM straight from the ipod was more than enough while on the move. If I'm going to listen to full sized cans or do some critical listening, I won't be...- KenW

Vista Install Disk
As others have posted, there are sources for getting Vista. Heck, there are sources for getting keys if you know where to look. Still, if that avenue is too unsavory for you, I'd consider using the Acronis software. I used it to migrate my PC and all its settings to a bigger HD. Couldn't have...- KenW

How many backups is enough?
I have to agree with HFat on this one. I've got my MBP backed up using both Time Machine and SuperDuper on an external drive, but my real concern is the music I've accumulated. I've spent a good deal of time making sure it's properly organized and tagged so the thought of losing that volume is...- KenW
