    Emotiva A-100

Been 6 months since my last post and the A-100 has indeed obsoleted my THX-789. The 789 is still a fine amp and I daresay is even a bit cleaner/more precise than the A-100, but there's just some mojo with this jumpered A-100 that makes my headphones absolutely pound. Being a former rock bassist...

For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

And on to the HE-500s.. classics. The mids are exquisite with the rock theme of the afternoon.

For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Been almost exclusively desktop 2.0 (Revel M16s) and JBL Tour One ANCs for the past several months, but just pulled my LCD-2Cs out and am giving them a workout wth Celldweller, Blue Stahli, MISSIO, Hyper, etc. The LCD-2C/jumpered (full power) Emotiva A-100 delivers such a satisfying visceral punch.

Pretty late response here but nah, they're not hard to drive. My HE6 se v2, on the other hand...

Focal Elegia - what do you think?

Basically exact opposites of each other.

The Closed-Back Headphone Thread (Plus Comparisons & Reviews)

What type of sound are you after? I'm still smitten with this LCD-2 closed/A-100 synergy that I discovered, pretty much a bullseye for me.

    HifiMan HE6 V2 Adorama

I still prefer the 500 for the 'life' I feel like it has vs the 6se's steadiness, but agreed that the 6se does offer greater refinement.

    HifiMan HE6 V2 Adorama

Yeah, these were leaving me wanting from the THX 789 the other night (even balanced with a full 4.0V input) but plugging them into my jumpered Emotiva A-100 just makes them way more satisfying. Not quite an SR875 but still plenty of oomph and the power availability really does take these to...

    Audeze LCD-2 Closed

I agree, and it's a reason I bought that version when they were transitioning a few years back.

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

I have yet to find anything that I would consider similar. There's just that heft and vibrancy in the mids but without anything else feeling like it's missing or loss of space.

    Audeze LCD-2 Closed

To add my thoughts, they are different animals. The short of it is that the 2 closed delivers a more resolving and balanced sound across a more 3-D soundstage with strong bass capability while the 2C is warmer and more mid-centric, delivering fantastic vocals and a general smooth listening...

Dan Clark Audio Aeon RT Closed thread

Same here with my Lokius. About 3:00 with the 20 Hz and 1-1:30 with the 100 Hz gives a nice extra grunt.

    Emotiva A-100

Old post here but I had a similar experience today with my LCD-2 closed (minus the channel imbalance). I've used it to power a few other headphones in the past but have been almost exclusive THX 789 for a long time, with the A-100 only powering my desktop speakers, but plugged in today on a...

    Audeze LCD-2 Closed

Been listening to mine for a couple of years now and they've been my primary closed-back lately, pretty much always through the THX 789. Today I plugged them into my jumpered Emotiva A-100 that is basically the same as plugging into a 100W speaker amp and dang, the bass and the whole sound...

    Sony MDR-Z7M2 Headphone Thread

Nice headphones but I'm going to send them back. Love the bass response and they're comfy, but while the LCD-2 closed doesn't quite give me the same bass rumble as the Sonys they do give me a wider stage, better imaging, more natural mids/vocals, and I feel like the resolution is a bit better in...
