  i would definitely say they are an upgrade from the x1, they are tuned a little different i think but i also perceive that as an upgrade...much more mature sound, more well rounded.

Own both, used the MA900 pretty much exclusively the last year or so. Past a few quick comparisons I have not picked up the 900's since I have had the x2's.

Yes   bass tightened up for me, and everything sounds a bit more concise to me after 100 hours or so.
