Can someone recommend a powerful amplifier that doesn't use a potentiometer?
Definitely. It's the only thing in my personal audio equipment that I'd never sell, because I would not be able to find another one.- junki

Can someone recommend a powerful amplifier that doesn't use a potentiometer?
Just to update this thread: the JDS Labs Element III DAC+AMP is an amazing product. At minimum, it redefines its price bracket, and at best it is the best bang-for-buck you'll find. It also satisfies my original query.- junki

Can someone recommend a powerful amplifier that doesn't use a potentiometer?
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I think I am going to wait for Topping to release the A90 Digital, which told me was coming out "really soon" in an email.- junki

Can someone recommend a powerful amplifier that doesn't use a potentiometer?
I hope this community with its vast awareness of different amplifiers out in the ether can help me with this. I've been using Arcam rHead for many years, and I love it. It doesn't have the lowest noise floor (or highest SINAD), but the noise floor it has is absolutely inaudible, and it excels...- junki

It's been 4 years, looking to buy a new pair of cans
Thanks everyone. I think I'll go ahead and give the Ayra a shot. The Ayra seems to check a lot of boxes for me, especially it being relatively lightweight (lighter than the Elex, which is great!), as comfort has become a hugely important factor to me. I'm a little concerned about its reported...- junki

It's been 4 years, looking to buy a new pair of cans
It's been about 4 years since my last purchase, and now I'm looking for something new. I mostly use speakers, but when I do use headphones, I've always put on the Elex. I have a HD650 that has been stuck at work for over two years now of the pandemic. I have a Sundara that I gave to my wife's...- junki

Topping D50
If you can actually hear a difference, feel free to use whatever you please. I use linear fast roll off filters on every DAC because, without getting into it, it's the most transparent filter.- junki

Arcam rHead - fully Class A, fully discrete, ultra linear headphone amplifier
I actually reached out to Arcam with this specific question, and the response was: FWIW, I keep mine on 24/7 and just mute it when I'm not using it. It's been like that for months, and I've had no issues. I've also had no issues with excessive heat either.- junki

Topping D50
This would be true, if technicalities are the same as frequency response, which they're not. Unless you believe the only thing audible is the frequency response, in which case you are indeed new.- junki

Topping D50
Just got mine from Massdrop's first drop of the Topping D50. If I were to sum its sound, I'd say incredibly clear yet refined and not fatiguing. Compared to the OL DAC, more apparent micro-detail, sound separation, and layering. Finally, I'm done with my home and office setups. Running mine...- junki

Massdrop x Focal Elex Review & Measurements
Can someone confirm where the serial number is? My right ear cup has two serial numbers, one is a long mix of letters and numbers, and the other is a shorter one that starts with M followed by a 5-digit numeric tail. Neither of these seem like they reflect the ~750 or so Elex units that have...- junki
