The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

Any thoughts about the UE350 for about $16.99 + shipping from Groupon?  Would the mic work with an IPhone?  Are they any good for non-audiophile use?  ...

The IEM/Portable Headphones Deal Alerts Thread - Closed! Use the Deals Thread III instead.

Don't see this anywhere in a search of the forums, so I'm both posting the deal and asking for thoughts on whether it is a decent set for use on a train.   WWStereo.com offers a pair of Sennheiser CX 280 Stereo Earphones (Black) for $16.50 when you apply promotional code SD280X at checkout...

I'll add another link as a possibility.   http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PEIGPS/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?t=slickdeals&tag=slickdeals&ascsubtag=yvqLDK3FEeK-E6b68wo-pA0_2qHX3_0_0_0&ie=UTF8&psc=1   $6 seems to be too cheap to be reasonably good, but they originally sell for $20, so...

Quote:   Quote:   I always manage to break earbuds on my commute (they last a few months) so am constantly looking for good cheap sets.  Expensive ones breaking pi$$ me off, and in any event 50% of my time using them is on a train, and the finer points of really good sound is lost...

Sound Isolating Earphones for $50 or so

I'm trying to stay away from IEM's, actually (using the definitions here).  I've tried a couple for comfort, not sound, and find it distracting to walk around with them shoved in my ear.  I like the earbud style better, knowing that the isolation won't be as good.  The S4 was almost good enough...

I'm a bit nervous about buying earbuds from Ebay.  I hear lots about fakes there....

Sound Isolating Earphones for $50 or so

The reviews I've read say that sound isolation is only average.

Sound Isolating Earphones for $50 or so

I do most of my listening on an Ipod on a commuter train or subway.  I typically listen to podcasts and music that won't particularly stretch a decent set of earphones (e.g. rock but not the crazy thumping bass hairband kind).  For a few years, I used Senn CX300's, but they kept breaking.  I...

I'm in the US.  The DUNU Trident doesn't seem to be available readily here, the write-up on the E10 suggests it is more bassy than I need (I listen on a train to podcasts and rock (mostly) so bass isn't as much of a concern as the mid-range), the GR02 is 50% more than the discounted CX495 price...

Does anyone know about the Sennheiser CX495?  It is on sale through today at newegg for $29.95 after the promo code.  I used CX300's for a while, and then moved to Klipsch s4's (which I just broke).   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826106554

    Commuter IEM recommendation (under $100)

I recently lost my CX-400 (Mk1) earphones on the train, so I'm looking to start over.... I use my Ipod mostly on the train. It is used about 50% of the time for movies on a laptop, and the rest is split between music and podcasts. I'm not willing to spend more than 100, mostly because I keep...

    cx300 v. MDR-EX81 v. RP-HJE70

NO ONE has any ideas? Assume I'm dropping the Sony and replacing it with the Panasonic. In reading this and other forums, it looks like the order is: 1) Panasonic RP-HJE70 2) Sennheiser cx300 3) Super.fi 3 4) Panasonic RP-HJE50 Is this about right?
