USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
I second the Hidizs Sonata HDII DAC, works fine with iPad Pro and even gets a pretty good sound out of the LCD-2’s. The Ztella from Zorloo is on the way, that might be an even better blind buy.- John Milton

How long will Comply Foam tips last?
Sorry to quote a 2 year old post, but I was wondering as a new Shure 846 owner if you discovered better alternatives in the years since then. I was just about to order some comply and/or Shure Olive tips, but I’m not looking forward to paying for new tips each 3-4 weeks. At least nog when...- John Milton

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
For me the absolute advantage of the Ztella over the other one you mentioned is the fact that no OTG cable or CCK/lightning to USB C cable is needed. I even flirted with the likes of Mojo and IFI XDSD, but on the commute I want as clean a solution as I can get. This would make for great wired...- John Milton

Yes, I consider kickstarter to be very reliable. Crowdfunding (whether it's kickstarter or indiegogo etc.) always carries a small risk that a campaign won't deliver, but most companies do deliver and as an early backer you get the product before it hits the market and at a lower price. And like...- John Milton

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
If only :-) I just pledged today, and the campaign still has another 23 days to go, even though the funding goals has already been met. I back the MQA version that is slated for december shipping, but with kickstarter, you never know. My ill fated (and in the end sucky) Kokoon headphones took...- John Milton

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
It is to me! I have only been enjoying the Hidizs Sonata HD-Dac II for a week, and it was just yesterday that I flashed the firmware to ‘D’. Took me some figuring out the firmware was the reason that I couldn’t get pas 44.1 KHz in UAPP, and thus got ‘can not resample in bit perfect mode’...- John Milton

LG V30
This might be my first Android phone. There actually already are quite a bit of videoreviews online, but although they praise the audio capabilities, they do not go into much detail. from what I understood, Android Oreo gives brands the possibility of supporting ldac, which would mean it could...- John Milton

Sony MDR-1000X
Bought mine two weeks ago (second hand) and I have to say I am very impressed. It won the direct comparison in the store with the Sennheisers and B&W's so this will replace my broken B&W P5. As a commuter this is quite a leap forward. Suddenly there is peace and quiet during my travels and I...- John Milton

Android O : New Codec & AAudio API
I saw it too. Just bought the MDR-1000X 2 weeks ago, and since I don't have an LDAC device yet, a bigger market share is always welcome. In fact, I'm using it with my iPhone 6, and while it sounds pretty good, I do wonder what LDAC might do. Instead of buying a dedicated sony walkman to...- John Milton

Sony LDAC on Walkmans vs. Bluetooth 4.2 - Is There An Audible Difference?!
Too bad there no replies, I'm having a hard time looking into this myself, having just bought the Sony mdr-1000x. Only iPhones in this house, so I'm wondering...- John Milton

ONKYO DP-X1 | Dual Sabre Dacs | Balanced | Sabre BTL Amp | MQA | DSD 256 | Android 5 |
I have a question perhaps not only about this upcoming Onkyo (and Pioneer) DAP, but one that also applies on other rather expensive music players in the $500-1000 dollar range: What is a reasonable 'life expectancy'? for a product like this, that might end up costing around a 1000 dollars? I...- John Milton

FiiO X7 | DXD | DSD | 384K/64B | ESS9018+ Android | WiFi | Bluetooth | 4 AMP modules | Balanced Out |
I know iTunes has this issue as well. Getting sluggish I mean. But this should be solvable, right? For Apple as well as DAP like a Fiio player.- John Milton

128 and one slot even I could live with, with larger card around the corner. But with DSD and high bitrate flac etc I would be nice to be able to have something like 300, but preferably 500 GB around.- John Milton
