[FiiO M3K] Probably the Most Cost-Effective Hi-Res Music Player, Discrete HiFi DAC Chip, Supports up to 384K/32B

The M3K looks like a nice improvement over the original M3, and I will probably buy one. I am still hoping for a clip on player by Fiio with FM radio(HD radio greatly preferrred), and at least 24 hours of battery life, priced at under $100.

[FiiO M3K] Probably the Most Cost-Effective Hi-Res Music Player, Discrete HiFi DAC Chip, Supports up to 384K/32B

Margins very much depend on economies of scale, so if you can manage to sell many more than you anticipated, you will likely have much better margins. Component costs are also likely to decline over time, epecially with greater volumes. At the planning stages it is a guessing game about how many...

New book on the birth of the Sony Walkman

Its funny that the first Walkman models all had two headphone jacks. I guess just a year or so later and forever after, Walkmans came with just one headphone jack. I guess they realized that two people moving around connected to the same audio source wasn't very practical. The use of AA...

    BROOKO'S REVIEW & DISCUSSION - FIIO F9 IEM

A standard 3 conductor plug will work in a 4 conductor jack, however the reverse won't work without using an adapter.

    BROOKO'S REVIEW & DISCUSSION - FIIO F9 IEM

If I can't connect it to what I want to connect it to, it is useless.

Does what I want even exist?

Why the obsession with bluetooth? I don't get it. Bluetooth might be useful in the gym, where a headphone cable might get caught on exercise machines, and sound quality isn't so important. For commuting, I wouldn't want to use a bluetooth earphone. Also keep in mind that when you are commuting...

    BROOKO'S REVIEW & DISCUSSION - FIIO F9 IEM

The F9 should come with a way to connect it to a standard 3 conductor stereo jack. It looks like the F5 has the same issue. Perhaps instead of including the balanced cable, they should have included a cable with a right angle three conductor plug, and sell the balanced cable separately. Or else...

    iem recommendation for classical music

It is very hard to get IEM demos. I wouldn't even want one, unless I could get new tips to use with it, and the IEM is sterilized first. "It's hard to say & subjective but if there's too much bass, could be either a source problem or maybe those complainers aren't listening to enough classical...

    iem recommendation for classical music

I haven't heard the Shure SE215, however I read enough about it to know that many who listen to classical music hate the Se215, as they claim it has too much bass.

    iem recommendation for classical music

If you want an over the ear IEM, the new Fiio F9 looks very interesting. I haven't heard it though. I personally will avoid it, as I hate over the ear IEMs. If you plan to use it with an amp though, you may need to buy an adapter or the cable with a three conductor plug which Fiio sells...

    BROOKO'S REVIEW & DISCUSSION - FIIO F9 IEM

Am I correct in assuming that the adapter cable with the three conductor plug was purchased separately? If so, why doesn't Fiio include something like it?

Fiio should fill the market gap left by SanDisk (Clip, + and Zip).

Some of the Ruizu and AGPTEK clip on players look interesting. Unfortunately they probably have very primitive firmware. I have Rockboxed Sandisk Clip+ and Clip Zip players, as well as the Fiio M3 and Fiio X1. The firmware on Fiio players is rather basic. It seems like in general player makers...

    iem recommendation for classical music

Balanced armature IEMs are great for classical music as they give great midrange detail. I have the Sony XBA-1 which is great for classical music. The XBA-1 is discontinued. There are now many choices of balanced armature IEMs under $100. The Sony XBA-100 looks interesting. I haven't heard it...
