FiiO FH7-Flagship 5-Driver (1DD + 4BAs) Hybrid In-Ear Monitors, Knowles DFK + SWFK Composite BA Drivers, 13.6mm Beryllium DD Driver

I think the difference is clearly noticeable. If you perceive it as positive depends on your system. Some users perceive the FH7 as bright (which I can reproduce), and the silver cable seems to amplify this trait, although the upmost treble which it makes more pronounced actually isn't the...

HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

One or another will have noticed the ringing after knocking on the housings. Not a good sign in view of possible consequences. I tried to press my fingers around the inner «rings» of the housings and noticed how the sound became more accurate by doing so. That's when the idea was born to coat...

Hugo TT 2 by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

Certainly it's legitimate to doubt Rob's findings if you have good counter arguments (and I happen to disagree with him on one thing myself), but it's hard to believe others' interpretations of «better sound» if you have experienced numerous cases where objectively worse sound is interpreted as...

FiiO FH7-Flagship 5-Driver (1DD + 4BAs) Hybrid In-Ear Monitors, Knowles DFK + SWFK Composite BA Drivers, 13.6mm Beryllium DD Driver

For me it is better (actually it's the LC-3.5D vs. the LC-3.5C in my case). More detailed, clearer and more impulsive.

HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

My Metaxas Solitaire is the best speaker amp I've ever heard, by a great margin. Its main feature is the extreme bandwidth, which it shares with the likes of Spectral and the new Chord Étude. During an inspection I had the Swiss importer/distributor make a modification consisting of removing the...

HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

The DAVE provides 6.8 volts with a digital zero signal at +5 dB (1% HD). My –13.5 dB scenario is 18.5 dB lower than that – so there goes your peak-power hypothesis. :stuck_out_tongue:

HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

There are numerous examples (posted on this forum) showing that a weaker amp can sound better than a stronger amp as well. So don't draw hasty conclusions as to more power is better. Enough is enough. But certainly different amps will sound different, also in terms of quality and accuracy. It's...

    CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE

Except that what you lose with engaged crossfeed with your headphones you also lose with speakers without crossfeed (low-frequency channel separation), so this conjecture is illegitimate. What some might prefer, though, is the artificial widening of the soundstage at low frequencies through...

It's certainly not ideal, but better than if it hadn't happened at all.

    CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE

Crossfeed settings are only accessible with a headphone plugged in, but still active through the line outs. So take care to disable crossfeed beforehand when you're going to listen through speakers! One more thing to note: The higher the crossfeed level, the higher the bass emphasis. That's A...

HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

Hi Jarnopp Yes, I have it since more than a week now, but actually wanted to wait with posting impressions, with just about 45 hours on it. However, since you're asking... It wasn't love at first sight at all. Wearing comfort was the least issue: The weight didn't bother me, just the...

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

Rob's statements say nothing else but that you can renounce ferrited dual-BNC cables between M Scaler and DAC if you feed the M Scaler with battery power, hence break the loop via ground connection. This explicitly addresses the RFI from the M Scaler reaching the DAC via dual-BNC cables. As...

    The (new) HD800 Impressions Thread

Note that my rating and appreciation for this combination is based on listening experience, not just numbers. And when it comes to fast reaction to the input signal, the Hugo₂ alone is definitely faster than with any additional amplification stage in the signal path – also and particularly to my...

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

It's not quite obvious, and I never would have known about it if Rob hadn't mentioned it: The RFI produced by the M Scaler does its bad work only if it finds a loop to the DAC via earth on the power-supply side. If the latter is blocked by a battery, it won't be an issue. That's the state of...
