Suggesting Headphones IRL
I've tried. More often than not I've failed in recommending better HPs because the Beats are the trend right now (Sadly). However, thanks to my [desperate] efforts one of my relatives now owns Grado SR-60s and another was impressed with my Soundmagic PL50s after buying a long string of mediocre...- iem222

How durable (longevity) are the Soundmagic PL50?
I've had my PL50s since March of 2010 and they're still going strong. Granted, I've been careful with them (They come with a little round hard shell case that I always store them in) but they haven't shown the slightest signs of fatigue, physically or sound-wise. I've heard these are pretty...- iem222

Where do you go for late night food?
Sushi Yama in Boca Raton, FL. Usually open til 2 AM and has the best sushi I've had. I always get a spicy tuna roll and a Thai tom yum tofu soup. All you South Florida Head-fi'ers should check it out, IIRC there's also one in West Palm Beach.- iem222

Looking for headphones to study with at school
Soundmagic PL-50 IEMs. Great sound quality (Balanced armature, typically only found in higher priced IEMs) at a bargain price (about $60). I haven't compared them to many other HPs, but they hold their own against my Grado SR-60i's and blow iBuds out of the water. Liquid vocals and mids and good...- iem222

What was your first rig?
An iPod Mini with some $10 Sony running headphones, the orange and white and really breakable ones. I was blown away by it at the time, but it pails in comparison to anything worthy of Head-fi.- iem222

Avalanche City - Acoustic band, really enjoyable, and the album is free to download
I really like this band! I just downloaded it after reading the OP's post, and it's been a really great new addition to my library- I played it 3 times last night. -
Linux users rally
Yeah, maybe I'll stick with Lucid for now for stability. Celeron-M, I'm sure you're pretty glad you upgraded to something better! Granted, that's about a netbook-spec processor in the speed department and that's one of the things that irks me most about my netbook - the speed. Thanks for the input!- iem222

Linux users rally
Quote: I have not yet tried Maverick, but am eager to. I am currently running Lucid because it's an LTS edition, but if Maverick is pretty stable now it might make sense for me to upgrade. I do have an nVidia card in my desktop pc. I'm not sure what kind of driver I installed to get it up...- iem222

Thoughts about Microsoft Window and GNU/Linux
You know, I might just have to give Windows 7 a try. That's encouraging to hear security has increased. I hear it runs well on netbooks, so I may try it. Thanks!- iem222

Thoughts about Microsoft Window and GNU/Linux
I made the transition to Ubuntu linux about 2 years ago and I agree, it's not nearly as polished as Windows, and miles behind the UI of OSX. This can be a disaster for new users because of the steep learning curve. But I still use it because I like the stability and lack of viruses, and I can...- iem222

Linux users rally
Quote: Ubuntu is awesome! No viruses, open-source software, and ultimately freedom from the dreaded closed source stuff. I have Ubuntu 10.04 running on both my EEE 1000 netbook and my desktop pc and never looked back.- iem222

2010 - Your Favorite New Releases So Far?
Favorite new release, that's a tough one. For me it would probably be either To the Sea by Jack Johnson or An Airplane Carried Me to Bed by Sky Sailing, IMHO. -
Why did you choose your username?
I was shopping for some IEM's at the time.- iem222
