The JVC HA-S680 - S400's and S500's big brother is here!

Someone want to volunteer to do a scientific experiment on carbon nanotube burn-in flex? S400's will do! :) And then maybe see the retention period after the dissection.

It's definitely above comfortable, but not deafening. I kind of have a high pain tolerance.

Interesting. Maybe the ones I have are a new batch? They really don't sound all that different, and I have continued to burn them in for about 200+ hours already. Maybe I should up the volume more? haha

Haha regardless of the need to burn-in, these sound great. It's probably more of the brain burn-in that you need.   FYI I ordered through amazon and no customs were charged. They just arrived on my door and that was it.

I might order the Sabre DAC for this. Does anyone think there is a difference between the asynchronous version and regular version for these headphones?

I'm ABing two sets of S680's. The red has been burned in with the wave file for 90+ hours, and the black one has zero burn in.   On initial impression, I thought these headphones were VERY veiled, so I burned it in for 80 hours first. I thought the burn-in process actually did help. Especially...

Any thoughts on the two? And yea, it'd be nice if you can tell us what your grandfather also thinks of these!

Quote:   According to some people in the US, this usually only happens if you buy more than one of the item, or if the total is over $350. I'm not sure how it works in other countries.   Can anyone confirm for US that they didn't get charged for customs tax, VAT, etc for amazon or other...

Glasses and headphones, a bad combiniation?

Mine did. I got contacts! haha

    Headphones for under 200

Bump.   I know that these cost <$50, but how do my previous choices compare with the superluxes? I'm just curious, I really doubt they are even close to feeling like ~$200-most-bang-for-the-buck phones.

    Headphones for under 200

Actually, is it possible to use leather/foam pads in the cups to mask the harsh highs? Has anyone ever modded the V6's before?   Edit: For those who look at this thread and have been deciding to get the V6's, I've been reading that they're more of a studio monitor headphone. They aren't...

    Headphones for under 200

Quote:   Then what would be a headphone like the V6's, but without the harsh highs? People keep on saying that these are one of the best under $300, and somehow I find that hard to believe. Edit: read the V6 bashing thread. There are apparently unstated headphones better than the...

    Headphones for under 200

Quote:   I will be giving the HFI780, HFI580, MDR V6, and XB700/500's a try. I just need more input to see which ones are worth seeking out if GC/BB doesn't have them. So far, I only see GC possibly having the DJ1/580's and BB having a broken pair of XB500's, so my luck doesn't seem so...

    Headphones for under 200

Quote: You would EQ out the harsh highs and add on more bass? If you know an EQ for noobs thread, I'd like to see it. All I've seen so far are all these graphs that I can't reproduce. Either way though, I don't think it's possible for my friend to EQ well depending on the source.   Edit...
