Newbie Ipod Nano Questions
Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the various Ipod Nano's besides storage space? Should I buy one of those invisible shields or a case?- Howie

Speakers in front of a big window???
Kroygen, depending on what computer speakers you have, and your listening habits, I honestly don't think you have to worry about your windows. Just enjoy the view. But if you're really worried, why don't you close the curtains and see if you hear a difference. If that didn't do anything and... -
A Fan for my Amp
If you already have the amps in a well ventilated place then the tubes should hold. The thing with your idea of adding a fan besides the fan noise and the object itself is the fact it might draw from the same power source as at least one of your equipment. Sorry if this doesn't help you but I... -
Speakers for rap / little brother
Quote: First thing you want to look at is a subwoofer. If he listens to rap, then he wants a kickass sub, probably more than "good" speakers I second that. Find out if your bro likes loud distorted bass. If he doesn't mind it then I bet it's louder the better for him. For many people...- Howie

Eek... I was a cable believer, until...
Personally, I'm very tired of all those "prove that cables make a difference" threads. There's really no point in arguing. How many of us would change our minds about cables based on what someone here or elsewhere have said? In any case, I agree with Hirsch. If you really don't hear a...- Howie

biwiring advice from fellow cable skeptics?
I too think it depends on the speaker. Some speakers manufacturers don't recommend biwiring and instead recommend the use of jumper cables. If you have to choose between getting a really good pair of single wire speaker cables and a much lesser biwire pair of cables I would think that you're...- Howie

audiophile power cords, worth it?
I have a Corda HA2. I experimented with quite a few powercords on it and found it really easy to hear cable differences. However, the other day I had to use a long run (over 20ft) long interconnect and the effects of changing out powercords made a much subtle difference. But I do remember that... -
Please help me choose between Beyer 880 and Senn 580/600 (+cable) or others
I haven't heard the DT880 but want it just for the looks alone. But I have the HD600 and like it a lot with classical and jazz. I don't think you can go wrong so no wonder it's a hard choice.- Howie

spades don't fit onto speakers
Quote: standard is pin 1 = shield, 2 = +, 3 = -. 99% of connections are like that. That is more or less the North American standard but even that isn't firmly established.- Howie

Budget Bookshelf Shootout
I think going to Stereophile's website and looking through Robert Reina's various speaker reviews is a good start. He often compares the speakers he's reviewing to past speakers he's reviewed and have liked. He might never write a bad review, but that's cause he seems to genuinely enjoy the... -
spades don't fit onto speakers
I've only briefly tried it that way (threading the spade through the hole) and somehow I've found that I lost a lot of sound. But that was when my spade actually fit so a smaller spade might have more contact area in this case. Anyhow I don't understand why they don't set a spade standard to... -
A simple question.....
Quote: It just doesnt feel so right to spend as much money on a replacement cable as for the hedaphones themselves. It sure doesn't but it's not like you can use the money to buy a better pair of headphones. Value wise, the replacement cable gives you more performance per dollar... -
CLASSICAL LOVERS ONLY.... which cable for the HD650s?
xaipemw. Make sure you aren't so quick in deciding what you like. Like brigher video displays, unless it's blinding or ear piercing, the brighter and even a more detail presentation will almost always appear more impressive but after a while, is the brighter video display displaying more...- Howie

CLASSICAL LOVERS ONLY.... which cable for the HD650s?
So from what Hirsch and davidmiya said, the Silver Dragon is the detail champ (is it also the smoothest sounding?). So the question is whether that's what you want xaipemw. If I have to generalize, most classical music lovers would prefer a darker rather than a brighter sound. I personally find...- Howie

A simple question.....
I agree with fewtch and Bill. Most people probably use stock cables and more people probably use Cardas cables. I haven't ever heard a Zu cable so I don't know how it sounds but with an internet company like Zu it's always about word of mouth. And I think if you had success with one of their...
