I got the 681EVO and also agree those who found the need to take the felt off.  It then sounded too bright but what's wierd is that after a few days of usage, the brightness went away.. so did my pair burned in or did it destroyed my ear's hairs, which is a bad thing if it did.  What do you guys...

update#1 to what I wrote below:  after folding half the inner black felt, I found that "Selena Gomez & The Scene - Naturally" sounded a bit too sparkly.  Maybe this is what people complained about in the original 681.  I would say maybe open the inner felt 1/3 only or find a thinner felt.  I am...

I've more time listening to the 861EVO and I have to say I love this thing :)  

I've received my 861evo today.  All I will say is that this is my last pair of headsets.  It's certainly better than the sennheiser 201, but I wouldn't say astromonically.  I think the 201 is already a good pair of headset, so to get something that is accurate and neutral, I am at a lost why...

I have the superlux 831 evo ordered, and i've never tried any superlux.    I have heard that the 831EVO tames the treble of the original 831.     Is the base more powerful on the Somic compared to the 831 / 831EVO?  I'm looking for less base.
