Did you try digital EQ'ing? In my ears, without EQ no headphone sounds totally right. It explains why many people here have 125 headphones in their collection. :) With some EQ you could be totally happy with a 200 dollar headphone...

It seems that here in Europe, Sennheiser dealers aren't allowed to mess with prices. In each EU country and each shop they are literally the same price (€599,-). Which is fishy, because a supplier isn't allowed to determine the actual retail price overhere but yet it seems to happen.

The more expensive the headphone, the more it is "EQ'ed" by the manufacturer and then it's called tuning. Tuning i think is nothing more than EQ'ing with resistors and other electronic components. Not sure which method affects soundQ more.

I just got a Hifiman HE400SE for 130 and after EQ'ing this thing to Oratory it's unbelievable what a sound you get for 130, now tháts price performance. ;)
