"Ear Kegs" - MusicMaker Phantom III / Shockwave III appreciation & impressions

+1! The SWIII (Kegs) have way better overall SQ vs. the original AKG 3Ks. I bought one of the early versions of the K3s in 2012, and thought they were the most incredible things at the time...sold them a few months ago as they were only sitting on the stand.

"Ear Kegs" - MusicMaker Phantom III / Shockwave III appreciation & impressions

"Thanx for the Info Carlton, I was under the impression (I haven't kept up with the thread) that they were the same. Has anyone done an actual comparison? I'd like to know the differences, just out of curiosity."   1clearhead did a SQ comparison between the HSLX 808 and Bette, and noted the...

FitEar TO GO! & Universal Series --- Suyama's custom IEM, made universal!

The TG334 will not disappoint your ears for sure! Different cables and eartips change the sound considerably.   The 334 shell design is not comfortable on my ears, but I keep going back to them for serious listening sessions, as have yet to find anything else with such incredible midrange and...

Chinese / Asian Brand Info Thread (Headphones, IEMs, Amps, DACs)

Another reminder of the many QC issues with these "DIY" IEMs. This pair I just received has TWO Left side shells! Would not be a big issue, but the shells are side oriented, so the cable touches my ear on the right side. These came from AE seller Kin Den Technology Company, listed as model...

"Ear Kegs" - MusicMaker Phantom III / Shockwave III appreciation & impressions

Sorry forgot to add the Spinfits did not work out for me and the Kegs. IMHO, the bore diameter on the Spinfits are too small and mess up the sound.

"Ear Kegs" - MusicMaker Phantom III / Shockwave III appreciation & impressions

I think the JVC SD eartip sizes run a bit larger than the others. The ML size SD's are similar to the Large Spinfits. Am currently using ML size SDs on my kegs, but am still searching for the "perfect tips."   For me the SDs protrude a bit too far away from the driver grill and causes a...

"Ear Kegs" - MusicMaker Phantom III / Shockwave III appreciation & impressions

The Keggers I got look like the ones in Twins review; as we got them from the same AE seller. The diameter of the wire that go to the shells look smaller than yours.

Nope, mine has silver plated looking wire with clear jacket.  The wire looks very similar to what was being used on the DIY/****/EE K3003s.

Lohb, IMHO, the top end does not sound "artificial." Treble balance, acuracy and extension is near excellent. On my tube reference amp, the Keggers sound a tad warm but I can adjust the timbre by rolling tubes. If you have an SS amp that is on the brighter side, they may make the Keggers too...

"Ear Kegs" - MusicMaker Phantom III / Shockwave III appreciation & impressions

Sorry, got it. May take the chance and DIY a fixed cable mod on my Keggers. The Clear cable from Brian looks pretty good.   Have a red beer on me eh!

"Ear Kegs" - MusicMaker Phantom III / Shockwave III appreciation & impressions

Thanks for the update on this. Do you know if Brian could do a fixed cable mod for the Kegs? The Keggers are fairly large and am afraid adding any extra weight (connectors) would cause fitment issues; for me at least...

Chinese / Asian Brand Info Thread (Headphones, IEMs, Amps, DACs)

Was looking through the spinfit eartip thread and came across the idea of using spacers on the nozzles to keep the eartips from seating too far down. Starts from post #549: http://www.head-fi.org/t/748473/spinfit-eartips-thread-the-cheapest-audio-upgrade/540   After experimenting with eartip...

CADCAM, This is the picture of the SENDIY M2 driver; from my original post on page 1751.  The voice coil is not pushed in; the hexagon like shape is probably just a light reflection. From what my very poor eyesight can see, the Sendiy M2 driver grille is a cap type with a straight tube.  The...
