    6SN7 Tube Addicts

I got a Darkvoice 336SE from a forum member a few weeks ago, and the previous owner was nice enough to include a brown-base Sylvania 6SN7 (JAN-CHS-6SN7WGT) and some type of 6AS7 with a metal base/straight bottle.  Since then I've tried a variety of low-buck 6SN7s, and I have to admit that I keep...

    Little Dot MKIII Tube Rolling

I got a pair of these myself, definitely an improvement.  Nice clarity, especially with dialogue (I use this amp with headphones to watch Netflix).  Background music is detailed, but not overly emphasized, sounds very natural.

That's a pretty good price for a complete set of components!  I love the look of that amp; level meters plus a headphone out?  Nice!   I was following an auction for a Harman-Kardon 730 Twin-Power, that single unit went for more than this entire stack.

    Starving Student PCB's

A quick question for people who used non-metallic cases.  I'm looking to make a case from wood, with metal plates for the top and bottom.  Do I need to make sure all the metal bits are grounded to each other?  I've seen several references to grounding issues, and since the default project case...

    PanaVise holder and mount

I appreciate the tip on tips, as it were!  I have a couple of different models of Panavises, so I think the two-arm version should suffice.  Most of the time I'm looking for an extra hand it's for light items, like resistors or switches, this will really help in those situations.

    Starving Student PCB's

Got my PCB on Monday, thanks!  Quite a bit smaller than I expected, still thinking of case options but it should fit just about any small case.

    PanaVise holder and mount

Panavise actually makes a model specifically for small circuit boards, but I haven't used one myself.   http://www.amazon.com/PanaVise-333-Assembly-Circuit-Holder/dp/B000SSR8FY   I really like that GRS system!  I've ordered the double clamp model, curious to see how it works with the...

    PanaVise holder and mount

I have a Panavise Model 201, with an accessory weighted base.  It's quite useful for small jobs, I actually use it more often than those alligator clip "helping hands" setups.   http://www.amazon.com/PanaVise-Model-Junior-Miniature-Vise   Panavise also sells a weighted base in tray form...

Good Bookshelf 2.0 or 2.1 set up for under $300?

I went through a recent desk audio upgrade myself, and got the Yamaha HS5 powered monitors.  Also got a Behringer Ultracurve DEQ2496 and a Presonus Central Station via eBay, this combination works perfect for both nearfield listening or headphones, depending on time of day.

Posted new design: "Jonokuchi" destop amp

I've got the PCB for this kit almost fully populated, waiting on tube sockets (got a couple of different styles to try) before cutting the top plate.  I've also left off the switches and jacks on the front edge, thinking of doing a slightly larger case so I'll need to adjust the spacing of the...

    Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp

I appreciate the lead for Navships' store!  I was looking at the OFC from vt4c, but if I can get something similar without the long shipping time that sounds preferable.

    Millett "Starving Student" hybrid amp

What are people using for the internal case wiring for these amplifiers?  I see references to "silver wire," is that better for wiring up circuits?  I'm still putting together the parts for one of these projects, and wanted to make sure I had everything on hand.

I've got the bits and parts for the Jonokuchi project on the way, but I'd be interested to try out this build as well.  Can I order a couple of PCBs?

    Calling All "Vintage" Integrated/Receiver Owners

Thanks for the feedback!  I guess I'll keep looking, the Marantz receiver I spotted on Ebay was over $500 with shipping.

    Calling All "Vintage" Integrated/Receiver Owners

Speaking of vintage receivers, any feedback on the Marantz 2238 B units?  I'm looking for a receiver with good to excellent radio tuner capabilities, and Marantz as a brand seems to have decent quality.
