New model Cowon - Plenue D2
PD2 was my first DAP and what a powerful little beastie it was! Literally pocket size, reliable (albeit with a rather outdated UI), massive battery time, really good EQ options. It's not on the same calibre as Chord Mojo 2, I don't think, but it's super portable and should now be fairly cheap. I...- gentzen

New model Cowon - Plenue D2
Risks adding noise between the two amplifications (at potentially different S/N ratios) and distorting the signal. It's not disastrous (won't damage your equipment or anything like that) and distortion can vary from barely audible to clearly audible. Although it's better to have a signal...- gentzen

New model Cowon - Plenue D2
Hello, talking about PD2, from what I remember it doesn't have a proper line-out (like, you don't get an analog signal that bypasses the amp), so you're looking at double amplification if you connect to an external amp. I don't recall it having any other connectivity either (like co-axial S/PDIF...- gentzen

DX320MAX Ti The musical event worth the wait. ROHM X 4. !! NEW Firmware: 2.03 !!
Good point. I'm on Gain 1, dig vol. 100%, analog vol. 80%, with ThieAudio Prestige Ltd, which has a fairly smooth U curve, mildly recessed mids, good bass slam (but not so much rumble in the subbass region) and relatively bright uppers (but nothing too strong, fatiguing or sibilant).- gentzen

Wow, my impression is quite the other way round to yours  . I had the Ti, which I found similar to the sound 320Max produces through Mango Android: bright, resolving but less dense and heavy sound, slightly leaner. 320Max through Mango OS to me sounds equally resolving, but darker...- gentzen

It certainly is most important not to bleed into the kids. They get easily scarred at such a young age.- gentzen

You've got a point there. Not sure the sound is audibly different (it certainly is not worse than the stock cable, but is it better? I've not had time to A/B). There are a few points to consider in such a purchase. I already have a TOTL DAP and am not interested in non-portable, desktop...- gentzen

I knew about E7, which is out, but where did you read about LP7? I was aware it was a project for at least a couple of years now, but is there any info on the DAC and amp board used, or specs, etc?- gentzen

Finally, my Liquid Links cable for the Prestige LTD has arrived and it's a beauty. I have not yet done an A/B with the stock cable, but both build-wise and soundwise the Ebua II certainly does not disappoint.- gentzen

I too think it's a good choice. They're very balanced across the spectrum and lack in no department (or, as critics might say, jacks of all trades but masters of none, still I like them that way). Your DAP/DAC-Amp system will also play a role, as will tips. I found audible differences (quite...- gentzen

ThieAudio Signature Series Tribrid IEMs
Yeah, I'm off next week on a work trip to Liverpool, England, and I'm putting on the Deep Mounts to give them another run, cos I did enjoy the bass presentation on these. (My partner rolls her eyes over this entire hobby and the cost of components and accessories).- gentzen

After @JAnonymous5150's suggestion, I tip rolled between the Azla SednaEarfit Max and the Radius Deep Mount NE. Found the Radius tips to have a slightly narrower presentation with mids (e.g., voice) more recessed. Bass guitar rumble was slightly more accentuated and there was a perceptible...- gentzen

It is the case. A slight, but noticeable difference in volume. Ultimate sounds more refined but a bit less intense.- gentzen
