Yes, I've tried other headphones and earphones with the NAD receiver.  Same problem.  I don't think it's a problem with the balance controls on the NAD receiver because I just tried it on a Nakamichi receiver, and it had the same problem too.   To answer your second question - Yes, though...

I wouldn't say "fix" - just that the problem doesn't occur with the Denon receiver.  When I tried it again on the NAD receiver, the problem was still there.  Any ideas?

i'd toss in another vote for the um-1s. the comply tips that they come with give you great isolation and comfort. i didn't think the e2c's were all that comfortable. i haven't tried the others, but the um-1s were so comfortable, that if the other two you mentioned were MORE comfortable...

I use the triflanges, with the smallest flange and some of the stalk cut off. It's not as good as the comfy comply tips, but at least these won't require replacing. Anyone know how long the comply tips usually last?
