My Ety ER2SE arrived today and tried it out for a half hour. Initial impressions are mostly positive, the sound is more or less what I was hoping for, something relaxing and accurate. I wasn’t sure what to expect for a soundstage but it’s fine. I think I’ll need to fidget with tips and the fit...

If you can find an earlier release of the software (pre4.3x), erase, reformat your hd and reinstall the earlier version of the software on your devices. The problem seems to be software related and that is probably the only solution for an average user.

If you get a "dac" you'll definitely need an amp between the dac and your headphones, if only for volume control. Without an amp after the dac, I'm not sure whether you'll blow your Grado's or your hearing first but something will give.

I bought one of those probably 15 years ago. I was neither impressed with it nor really unhappy with it. I only used it for a year or two and then sold the tuner/preamp I was using it with and went to an integrated amp. It's okay and it worked fine and it's better than having a wire hanging out...
