    Hifiman HE-4 Impressions Thread

Hey guys,   So I have been out of the loop for awhile when it comes to the HE-4's (actually just sold mine off).    I would like to get the first post as comprehensive as possible. I went through the thread a few months ago trying to add in additional links to the first post but i am sure I...

"Mad Dog" by MrSpeakers, modified Fostex T50RP review

Quote: Short answer : Yes   Longer answer:    Since when have the LCD-2's been intimate?   I would not describe the LCD-2's as intimate in any way but I would describe the Mad dogs as an intimate headphone. This is one of the appeals I have with the Mad Dogs. It makes them far...

Ask one of the world's top headphone engineers whatever you want at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time!

Hrmmm... He seems to be dodging quite a few questions... It's getting me excited.

I can shed some light on the difference between the "faulty" and intended version. I happened to get one of the faulty versions so my previous comments are no longer valid.   Dan was kind enough to send me a corrected pair of phones days after I expressed some issues withe the first pair...

    Deathmatch: Innerfidelity vs. Headfonia

Gotta love Tyll, although i have to agree with the CNET people. Stever Guttenberg know his **** and has some awesome reads.

I wouldn't really call the mad dogs hard to drive especially in relation to other orthos. I am able to easily drive them with my Concerto close to the same volume as my LCD-2's (around 10 o'clock on the knob).

So, after a good days worth of listening I can go over some initial impressions. Firstly, they are worth the money. Secondly they don't compare to the LCD-2's as I have heard others say.    Tonally, they have some good bass... Not as good as the LCD-2's or even the HE-4 but i'm content...

Unfortunately i have the HE-4's not the HE-400's, but i will do a comparison between the two as well as the LCD-2 Rev 2.

    college student headphones

The 880's will leak just as much as the 702's.  I used the my 702's through my fist 2 years of college with a roommate and with no problems. I wouldn't worry about bothering them with your sound, but rather them bothering you as open headphones don't seal out much, if any, outside noise as you...

    college student headphones

If your steadfast between the two, i would go for the Beyers.   But i would suggest going for something that works well in any application i.e portable and home. The 880's are not an ideal portable phone. Something like the Sennheiser Amperior, Beyer DT1350, AKG k550 or another headphone in...

Simply awesome. Is it in your possession or did you find it online? If it is yours, do you plan on doing anything with it? Restoration?
