Thanks. I’m thinking so as well.

    Qobuz Lossless Streaming Service Thread

I just registered for Qobuz in Canada. Entered card info, etc through the website. When I downloaded the app thru the Apple App Store and opened it and logged in, it only plays snippets…so I clicked on the “free trial” icon. Instead of starting my free trial, it prompts me to pay $17.99...

Does Bluetooth LDAC default to 32/96khz? Isn't this a massive waste of bandwidth for most sources?

It takes extremely high volumes to hear a difference between 16 and 24 bit…and that is only if you are listening to a 24 bit source with that real level of dynamic range. Anything that was recorded in the analog domain has nowhere near 24 bit DR let alone even 16…so there wont be any advantage...

iTunes various formats to iPod Classic 160

I’ll try the genres idea. When listening to jazz, I can hear compression issues on symbols and the soundstage with 256 AAC vs full Rez ALAC. For rock through the headphones though, I agree...very little difference if any

iTunes various formats to iPod Classic 160

Not sure where to post this exactly. I’ve been ripping CDs to a NAS to use my Bluesound Node 2 and DAC to listen to. I’ve converted CDs to ALAC. I have been transferring to my iPod Classic 160 as well, and as you can imagine...I am quickly running out of space. For me, I spend most of my...

ONKYO Hi-Res Digital Audio Player DP-X1A

Never mind everyone...I misread their specs. Feels free to delete this thread.

ONKYO Hi-Res Digital Audio Player DP-X1A

I see in the specs that it can take up to two, 200gb mSD cards. Anyone know if two 256gb mSD cards will work?

iPhone 8: Better sound quality vs iPhone 7 or 6!?

Yes...the 6+ has standard headphone jack.

    Sony NW-A40 Series NW-A45/A46/A47

Wow...that is a big issue as I'd have to convert everything in my library from ALAC to FLAC. I don't think the CDs I've ripped to ALAC can be converted in iTunes.

New member...and a question re portable audio storage

Yes, I guess some people are rigid. While I am used to the iPod, I dont really care to much as long as I can see the album covers, etc, and flow through artists. I'm not really concerned much about hi tez audio, ie; 24/96, etc, as it is hard enough to spot the minute differences through my...

New member...and a question re portable audio storage

Good points to consider. No perfect solution I guess. May be best to just bite the bullet and spend the coin on a proper player with good expansion options. That Onkyo I mentioned earlier is pushing 600gb with the two mirco slots filled. Not sure if firmaware will allow for the latest 400gb...

New member...and a question re portable audio storage

Hmmm....maybe that is the way to go for now. I will check to see how the swapping works for the FiiO and upcoming Sony players. One player and a few 256gb cards should do it. Thanks everyone.

Is it easy to swap out microSD cards without confusing the players? Could I have cards for different genres for example?

The X5 does allow for 256gb. I do agree about Apple though. While I figured it unlikely, I thought maybe someone has tried it with a drive. I'm very green when it comes to portable audio...but it has been an interesting learning curve.
