Qobuz indeed sounds the best to my ears among major streaming services, incl Tidal and AM. Though it does not bypass SRC, the difference I can hear when compared to streaming Qobuz via UAPP is minimal. In the end, for streaming, I settled down with Qobuz original app.

Yeah, I've tested with every combination of setting, incl Direct and Hi-Res streaming. Tidal & AM app just don't sound as good. Sad to say again, it's flat. Do try it yourself. From moden electro FKA Twig's Eusexua to old grunge Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirits (Remastered 24/192 verison), the...

After comparing the same songs played from the stock music player, UAPP, and streaming apps (Apple Music & Tidal), Sony's up-sampling solution to Android SRC is good but not great. - Stock music player is undoubtedly the best sounding. - UAPP streaming in bit-perfect mode sounds lush with...

Wondering if anyone is using UAPP with 1.09 firmware? Just installed it but Hi-Res Driver is not working. Have been using UAPP on different devices and have tried un/enabling different options to no avail. Android audio driver is working normally, tho. ---- Fixed it myself: uncheck Direct &...

Thank you so much for all your replies. I've also gained more insights from the attachment. It is extremely informative. One thing I've just noticed is that while using 3rd party app like AM, DSD ON sounds exactly the same with Direct mode ON. And when toggling DSD on/off there is no DSD...

Thank you. The diagrams is illustrative. Yet the interaction between Hi-Res streaming and DSD remastering playing on 3rd party apps remains a myth. I will have to trust my ears and at the same awaiting more inputs:))

From what I've learned, the way Sony chooses to deal with Android SRC is not to bypass it but to convert all Android's resampled audio to 32/192. Bypassing SRC is only possible with the use of Walkman player app or UAPP streaming. I actually like Sony's solution. It not only makes streaming...

Just bought the 1ZM2 and happy to join this thread. Though it is still in the burning-in process, I like this sound of gold already. I mainly listen with Apple Music streaming and offline, and thus have the Hi-Res streaming on. Later I've found that enabling DSD remastering also changes the...

[FiiO BTR17/BTR7] True Lossless Bluetooth, Portable Bluetooth DAC and Headphone Amplifier BTR17 Is Officially Released!

I have been playing with the BTR17 for a few days. Compared with the Lotoo S2, BTR17 is leaner on the sub-bass and vocal, yet its level of dynamics, separation, detail retrieval plus versatility is just too good to let go. I can relate to what you feel as dry and cold, as the sub-bass's lean...

Lotoo PAW S2 USB DAC AMP 150 mW@32 ohm 4.4 , MQA - New Firmware released 26 January 2.0.0.5 link added first post.

I just fixed my own problem. keeping Tidal open in the background solves the stutter when switching apps. So basically now to me, there is no SQ difference between UAPP and Tidal. Static dat sound at the start of MQA songs remains with both apps, tho. Usability wise, I would like to point out...

Using S2 with Tidal on S21 Ultra. I can't hear difference between UAPP and Tidal, both in bit perfect mode. However, with Tidal, there is a half a second pause everytime I open other apps. The pause becomes a faint "dat dat" sound while MQA being played. And with both UAPP and Tidal, there is...

I own a W2 and still pulled the trigger on S2. After weeks of listening with Hifiman RE800 single ended, I could say I prefer the sound signature of S2. It gives lushier mids, from vocal to instruments such as violin. Engaging. W2, on the other hand, is cooler and more transparent, offering a...

Because of the Ldac 990kbps problem, I put my btr3 aside. Then I started to experiment with different settings with wired. To me Hifiman's Re800s match quite well with the following setting. Dolby OFF, UHQA ON (Bit Upscaling only, not with the bandwidth one), No EQ, Adapt Sound ON (Under 30 -...

Thank you for testing. Disappointed to hear this. I was thinking to switch to Exynos. My previous phone, Mate 20, works normally. It even remembers my 990 setting without the need to revert it back again. However, the big brother Mate 20X stutters at 990, too. I wonder what the problem is.
